The farm scale evaluations of GM crops are the largest study of farmland wildlife ever. In more than 4000 field visits the scientists counted over 700,000 plants and 1.5 million bugs. The trials were designed to look at the effects of weed management in GM crops compared to that in conventional crops but they can tell us much more than that. Come and talk to the scientists and discuss how this wealth of facts can help to underpin countryside management that is friendlier to wildlife.

Scientists behind the trials, Professor Chris Pollock, Dr Les Firbank and Professor Joe Perry will outline the latest results from the trial data. They will then be joined on the panel by Dr Brian Johnson of English Nature and Professor Jules Pretty of the Centre for Environment and Society to discuss how this data can be used to inform biodiversity friendly farming. The debate will be chaired by writer and broadcaster Vivienne Parry.
