Tonights line up includes a short film & discussion from THE PRESSWISE TRUST www.presswise.org.uk Set up in 1993 by 'victims of media abuse', & supported by concerned journalists, media lawyers and politicians in the UK. They'll be showing ON THE RECEIVING END - a timely film in which refugees discuss the experience of exile and reactions to media coverage of refugees and asylum-seekers in the UK. Also screening will be a selection of inspiring INDYMEDIA shorts.
The main feature will be THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED - The Venezuelan Presidential Palace, April 11th 2002. Two Irish filmmakers are inside with Hugo Chavez, having been given exclusive access to make an intimate portrait of the newly elected leader. To their shock, they find themselves filming the very first political coup of the 21st century. A shocking blow-by-blow account of the 48 hours in which Chavez was deposed and returned to power amid bloody street battles and media mayhem, containing never-before seen footage.
