Just got back god this is really like the old days. so easy to do stuff here come ON! i know other sites need help too but so do we....and work is happening here NOW chainsaws here NOW machinery arriving NOW....the woods needless to say are massive ancient and beautiful
Camp getting consolidated. yoghurt being woven. police FIT team up filming sunday. So easy to stop work with just a handful of people who know what they are doing.stopped all work completely today we are currently running rings around Costain. if we keep on the offensive like this then its all to play for.
Unbelievable local support never seen anything like it ever. Dormice found on route this strengthens case for european court appeal which is currently going through (yes the f-ers are felling despite the decision not being in yet)
We currently have the tactical advantage but not for long unless numbers pick up. Ring camp mobile for update

Details of Protest
12.02.2004 20:16
A road protest site was set up 2 weeks ago to save St David's Wood, an Ancient Woodland in Blackwood, near Cardiff. Hundreds of young trees have already been destroyed but several activists have so far managed to stop contractors Costain reaching the Ancient Woods. Work has temporarily stopped since Dormice were found on site a few days ago, but more people are urgently needed to help when work starts again any day.
Full details, maps, photos of this protest are on Indymedia UK http://publish.indymedia.org.uk/en/2004/02/285042.html and on www.warband.org stuff is updated regularly throughout the day.
Five acres of Ancient Woodland will be destroyed to make way for a 2-mile bypass. Local residents have fought a 10-year battle to stop this road but their voices have been ignored and work started on 29th January. Two activists stopped work on the first day and they have managed to stop work every day since with the help of a few more activists and local residents. However, they are still outnumbered by contractors and security staff.
People are needed for day actions, or to stay longer if possible. (The site is also appealing for 10mm polyprop, urgently!)
We need help not only on site, but to spread the word as far as possible to people who are not on the internet and who probably haven't heard about this new protest site.
We can win this fight, but only if there are more people there to stop the mindless destruction of one of the few Ancient Woodlands left in South Wales.
Please take a moment to look at the links above, and to spread the word to anyone who may be interested. Many thanks.
Rowan
