1) STOP BUSH : MASS SCHOOL WALKOUT............?
2) STOP BUSH : City Centre Demonstrations : 19th NOV.
3) STOP BUSH NATIONAL DEMONSTRATION : 20th NOV.
CRITICAL NOTE : As this email is being sent within 48 hours of the National
Demonstration, fewer than 50% of people are likely to read this email, so please spread
this message like wildfire. The mass protests by school students in the lead-up to, &
during the start of invasion shocked the nation. A fire has been lit under a generation,
within a global movement now larger then anything, ever.....
1) MASS SCHOOL WALKOUT............?
This is a legal response to the entirely disgraceful threats of expulsion & suspension of
Human Rights levelled by schools against students who intend to exercise their
Democratic right to protest & dissent during the unwanted visit of George W. Bush - War
Criminal.
PLEASE NOTE: This interpretation of the law has been provided anonymously, and is
provided with quotation marks to indicate exactly that. "If you are considering leaving
school to protest, you should be aware of the following:
a) You have the right under the Human Rights Act to freedom of speech and opinion and a
right to peacefully protest.
b) Teachers cannot prevent you from leaving the premises. They cannot lock doors (false
imprisonment and health and safety risk), and they cannot restrain you (this is an
assault).
c) Ideally you should get your parent/carer's written consent to attend a protest during
school time. If this is given, then your absence is an authorised absence. If you do not
have consent, then the school will contact your parent/carer by phone & letter. Once you
parent has been contacted the teacher does not have liability for you if you leave.
d) Schools will treat unauthorised absence as truancy. Guidance from the government
states that use of exclusion (including suspension which is a fixed term exclusion) is not appropriate for lateness or truancy, so the school should not do this.
e) For your own safety, it is best to let either your parent/carer or teacher know where you are going."

"If you go to one demonstration and then go home, that's something, but people in power
can live with that. What they can't live with is sustained pressure that keeps building,
organisations that keep doing things, people that keep learning from the last time and
doing it better next time." Noam Chomsky
