On 16 Feb 2013 the Facebook page of openly Nazi EDL spin-off group the North West Infidels published photos of the front and back entrances of the Cowley Club in Brighton (see screen-grabs), describing the club as "Antifas shithole" (sic). The photo of the front was posted with a comment that says "A couple of the lads went down to Brighton.... on a little scouting mission to the Cowley Club.... This is a message to you Brighton Antifa.... We know who you are and we know where you are.... We'll be seeing you very soon". In might of the arson attack on the Freedom Bookshop down in London, this threat should be taken seriously. Readers in Brighton please pass this info to the Cowley Club absolutely ASAP, and the club should take immediate steps to make certain their premises are secure and that their fire protection, CCTV and insurance etc are up to covering a worst possible scenario.
https://www.facebook.com/NwiFightbackIiii Another comment on the same NWI Facebook page says "see they repaired the top Windows lol, bff hit the place 4 years ago" - meaning a Nazi gang who call themselves the British Freedom Fighters (sic) reckon they smashed the windows of the Cowley Club in 2009. By way of context, BFF member and EDL protestor Mike Heaton (aka Wigan Mike) recently finished a jail term for inciting the murder of Jews, and Mike Heaton ran a group called Aryan Strike Force, whose members Ian Davison and Nicky Davison were jailed for making pipe bombs and chemical weapons (use IP shielding before accessing far-right websites) -

These far-right groups have been repeatedly humiliated on their "March for England" demos in Brighton, and were itching for revenge before being humiliated again outside the Greek Embassy in London - after which a (now closed) Facebook page for England's Golden Dawn posted saying how "The cost of a shop window" could "make a small business go brankrupt". Days later the Freedom Bookshop was targeted for an arson attack!

If only the cops would allow people to see the CCTV files for the area.

The photo of the front was taken when the club was shut as no lights are on inside and if there were a roast on there would've been a sign saying so in front of the door.
Don't believe for a moment that NWI are capable of not standing out a mile in the place, strange there are no derogatory mentions of the clientele or even the shock of being asked which milk alternative, soy or oat, they wanted with their Earl Grey.
About as threatening as when I picked up the phone there to be told that an upcoming anti-fash fundraiser was due for a visit.
I was quite apologetic when I pointed out the gig in question happened a year ago.
Try again

The threat might be bullshit, or it might not, whatever's true the CC have been warned and if they fail to heed the warning they're bloody idiots - making sure they've taken adequate precautions to protect themselves and/or their members will be a sound investment under any circumstances (and would probably also reduce their insurance premiums). If they / you / anyone wants to ignore the warning that's your call now

There's always a need for vigilance but also a little perspective occasionally.
Aware of the threat just not panicking over a photo.

Protecting the club isn't hard, the back is relatively secure (if the fash can find it) and just keeping the boards up on the front would be enough to make it very difficult to do anything to the club - bear in mind London Road is pretty busy at all times of day and night. It's certainly not as easy to get away with doing something as it would be down a quiet Whitechapel alleyway.
There's nothing to be gained from being complacent (although laughing at the right's intimidation tactics is quite enjoyable), but at the same time, there's nothing lost in being a bit more on the ball with security and making sure the boards are put up at the end of the day.
Yeah, I know, the boards are heavy and awkward, but they exist for a reason, and the front of the club is pretty vulnerable without them.
As for the legitimacy of the photos, they match the current window displays, but there's no real way of knowing exactly when they were taken. Generally nut roast isn't really served during the week, it's more of a Sunday roast job. If the NWI are such masters if espionage and infiltration, you would think they would have taken a snap of the inside, or at least made reference to more of it than simply information that's pretty easily found online or by looking at a poster in the window. I would have thought they would be sulking more about the bar not being open anyway.
Anyway, TL;DR version...
- Have any of the people who are at the club on a daily basis been told about this?
- It's not that hard to make sure the club's secure.
- Photos are probably legit, but it's doubtful they went inside.
