So a couple of EDL have been drinking at the pub - so fucking what! EDL is not the NF and to be honest I see this level of hysterical bullshit as part of the problem. It discredits the Left and anarchists and can only build more support for the EDL.

This isn't 'no platform', this is pure and simple censorship and oppression. If you want the EDL out of the pub, make them unwelcome by getting down there and making it a friendly, anti-fascist place for people to be. Nothing has ever been solved by banning it. If you're worried about the bad atmosphere, go down there and change it. What do you expect the pub to do, quiz people on their political beliefs before allowing them entry?

How naive are you? The EDL are ultra violent racist thugs whose leaders have been arrested at gunpoint by armed police. The fact that armed police are needed gives you an indication of what the EDL are really like.
The "anarchist" who claims that the EDL should have freedom of speech should be reminded of that when they are trying to get Islamic conferences banned. The Salmon and Ball pub is causing problems with it's high level of fascist drinkers weho pose a threat to the neighbouring community. The Salmon and Ball is a well known fascist pub, it's much more than a case of a "couple of EDL drink in there". Any anti fascists who do venture in there are likely to be met with violence from racist thugs. The EDL are going along with Islamophobic politicians and their whole outfit is frightening. It's very easy for non Muslims to dismiss it because they are not on the recieving end of the EDL / state hate campaign. The EDL are growing at an alarming rate and are a racist street army working for Islamophobic wealthy individuals. The EDL need stopping before it's too late.

The OP about children being scared to walk past a pub and use a tube station should be given the credibility it deserves, that is: none.

If people know about the EDL drinking in the Salmon and Ball and therefore avoid drinking there, fair enough. But launching a campaign against it is a bit over the top and more likely to entrench any EDL sentiment in the pub than eradicate it.

This post is embarrassing, disgraceful bullshit. Yes the salmon and ball has played host to the BNP and EDL cos both have met their for a drink. The BNP were quite conclusively chased out of the area by local antifascists and the EDL have had to leave due to even bigger cross-community resistance.

The S&A had no role in either of the groups presence in the area - its a fucking joke to put them forward for action.

I agree with 'Bill Stickers'. But there's another point - we all know that on occasion the BNP & EDL have drunk in the Salmon and Ball. Why not leave it that way? Better to know where they drink than to have them find a new place we don't know.

When you say 'well i'm an antifascist' you mean it in the sense that you are 'anti' 'fascism', you do not mean you are part of an antifascist group, such as antifa or WAG. They would not support your post, and I can assure you they find it deeply suspect.

The BNP were indeed chased out of Bethnal Green after meeting in the S&A a couple of years ago, the event was well documented in the local press and was a minor victory. It was the inaugral meeting of the local BNP branch which it can be assumed has not emerged since. Some members of all the groups mentioned were involved, along with others. And they would be totally opposed to the idea of hysterically confronting the pub. That you do not know about this suggests you are quite new to the area, which is fine, but maybe you should 'lurk more' before suggesting political campaigns for the area no...?

The rest of your three, consecutive, posts are pretty unhinged - way off the mark at the very least. Your assumption that I am an EDL supporter is nuts; on what grounds? That I commended someone for saying they were not the NF? They aren't the NF, or the BNP. The EDL is a right wing movement that far, far outnumbers both the NF and BNP in terms of street numbers, and it is entirely street-based. It is not really a political movement, its a broadly racist phenomena based on identity and young lads up for a ruck/aggy day out. That BNP and other far right groups can go on their demo's is like pointing out the SWP or or anarchists can go on anti war demo's. Its facile in the extreme, and meaningless.

The statements you make about anti racist groups with white membership, to me personally, border on a racist logic; at the last consensus, the UK was 92% white. To say that anti-racism should be dominated by minorities is exclusionist, and inversely racist. It is the very opposite of a left wing, pro unity and pro equality answer to racism. It suggests that racism only happens to non white people and only white people can be racist.

We should be cautious about the claims made by the oP.
The Salmon and Ball is an old footy pub and over its time has paid host to all manner of hooligans and dodgy characters. However history aside I've seen the EDL in there once and I cycle past most days and have a look to check. We shouldn't be complacent about monitoring pubs where groups like the BNP and EDl have been known to meet even if these are isolated incidences and unconnected with the management. That however is a world away from the hysterical bullshit posted by the OP which seems designed to end up with the pub being smashed up ...and who does that benefit?
Unlike you anon I both grew up and live in Bethnal Green and have a good idea of what goes on locally.
Oh and for your information The Bnp tried to hold a relaunch meeting a year or so ago booking into a local church hall under an assumed name . After being asked to leave by the church vicar (who knows his antifascist history) they were confronted on the streets by local antifascists including a stewarding team who, after a frank exchange of views had the BNP "security" crew reduced to quivering lumps of jelly desperate to get out of the area under police protection. Not a uaf member in sight "anon" but genuine local based antifascists
