We represent the 1000 petitioners and 280 families who have used the Surrey NSPCC and are keen to let you know what we are trying to do to support children and families in Surrey. The centre is for children who have been victims of sexual abuse.
The Surrey NSPCC is based in Leatherhead and offers a service to all children in Surrey, they provide 2 services to children and their families. I have attached leaflets explaining these in more detail.
This centre is to be closed in April 2011 and its services relocated to Croydon thus leaving children in Surrey bereft of a service.
I'm sure you will agree that a centre to support and give much needed therapy to sexually abused children is vital and must been maintained. These children have a right to receive the best support and therapy.
They have been horribly let down by an adult, often let down by the criminal system, at the very least they deserve the dignity and respect of a service to help them recover from the emotional and pyhsical traumas suffered by being victim to sexual abuse.
We would be very happy to talk to you in more detail and hope you can help us.
