Cat and Phill are asking for as many people as possible to come along
to show their support.
GLASGOW SHERIFF'S COURT WEDNESDAY 24th OCTOBER

One year ago the Home Office were busy taking families from their
homes. In October last year they doubled the number of police and the
number of vans to use for dawn raids and began coming to two homes
every morning.
In Cardonald, they came for a Turkish family. When they broke open
the door of the flat, Ceb Coban, the father of the family went out
onto his balcony on the 20th floor and threatened to jump off it if
the Home Office took his family away.
Friends and neighbours of the family gathered outside the flat to
support the family. A call for more people to come and help the
family was made and supporters from across the city came and waited
outside.
After five hours, the police finally decided not to take the family
and sent the Home Office away but they decided to arrest the father
for a 'breach of the peace'.
When the police took Ceb out of the block of flats, the people
waiting outside got very upset, and ran to stop the police van taking
him away. One woman was knocked unconscious by the police.
Media coverage and comment about this dawn raid, and other ones
earlier in the week, led to the Home Office stopping dawn raids in
Glasgow.
But one month later the police came to the home of Phill and Cat from
the Unity Centre and arrested them for breach of the peace for
causing the trouble in Cardonald.
