To all those Hurt or missing loved ones, my thoughts and hopes are with you.

Having been anxious to check my friends in central london, and hearing the relief from my mother when she heard I was OK really brings home how horriffic things like this are... All I can think about now is what is going on in Iraq... Its not just some news story, its people's lives, those numbers have stories, friends and family, they go through this day in day out... violence is disgusting, be it by state or individual.

As one just returned yesterday from London to the United States and who has frequently used public transportation throughout London I was certainly deeply shaken as well as greatly saddened by the news of today's bombings, deaths, and injuries. I extend my condolences to the people of London, and on this site in particular to all those many, many men and women in London and throughout Britain continuing to work and struggle so long and so hard for a genuinely democratic, independent, public media--and against the horrors of war, poverty, and exploitation. I am cautiously optimistic that in London, England, and the UK the aftermath of today's events will not, unlike what has happened in the U.S., greatly increase support for state terrorism, imperialism, and fundamentalism--as well as for a clampdown on civll liberties, especially the freedom to dissent. Together we will eventually shift the focus of energy toward eliminating the root causes of terrorism and thereby preventing future violent atrocities of this nature, and of the kind that sadly happen throughout much of the rest of the (especially 'Third') world far more often, and in many cases on a virtually continuous basis. But this (today's violence) is terrible too--I hate that it has happened and that so many in London today have lost and suffered so much. We all maintain such a short time alive; it is tragic that many of us spend so much of this time destroying so much, including ourselves and each other. But we will press on in seeking to bring about a better world.

our sympathies are with those today in the UK that have suffered so badly as a result of sick terrorist murderers that have no regard for human life in the way those of us on the progressive side do. We all work for a better world and decisions by both these terrorists and our gov'ts continue to lead to the loss of innocent life. This must stop. What a shame! Hitler bombed us, he bombed civilian areas to undermine our moral. He killed woman and children to install his regime. Luckily he failed in the end. But Europe still suffers from that.

Bin Laden has read "Mein Kampf" ("My fight", Hitler's book where he had announced he would kill all the jews and conquer Europe). And again, he goes after the small people that use the tube. He's a millionaire's brat, who never had to work and always had every money he wants. So he hates poor people and wants them bombed and dead. Even Hitler did not do that.

He also hopes that others now take revenge for the family members being killed by killing some arabs. Remember, that is how their system works. Family blood revenge.

And of course Bin Laden would not attack Mr. Bush or Mr. Blair. Because he needs them to continue murdering. And using oil in SUVs so he gets more money.

It's such a shame for the innocent that get killed. In New York, in London, in Madrid, in Irak and in Afganistan. Just that some a**holes can feel great.

Have read about the horrific events in London as soon as I got on-line this afternoon(It's evening here in Las Vegas)and wanted to express my sincerest condolences to all of you, your families, friends,associates, and to all those who lost someone, as well as to those wounded in this set of ghastly attacks.

There is no excuse for this sort of barbarity, whether perpertrated by Coalition soldiers in Iraq, Al-Qaeda operatives in London and elsewhere, nor in any part of the world, and I stand with the so-called ordinary people of the world who suffer as a result of these monstrosities.

I would, in closing, ask all of you to keep the victims of these tragedies in your thoughts, prayers, what have you, and to work for a world in barbarities like this will have been consigned to the dustbin of history.

My thoughts and best wishes go out to you and yours this night, and for many nights to come.

Sadness and care

While it is impossible to fathom the grief and horror experienced by so many in London today, the greater incommensurability lies in wondering to which exponential degree dangerous and unjustifiable reactions will transpire, in the haste of seeking a salve for unspeakable pain, or retribution for an unspeakably horrific crime. Without care for seeking independent and trustworthy knowledge of who is responsible, we are all lost. I mean to take great care that my Islamic friends, all of whom I know find these bombings an utter sacrelige, be made aware that among the many immoralities committed by imperial regimes, a blanket assumption by the general population of guilt without irrefutable proof is not yet one of them. My heart goes out to the victims' families, with fervent hopes that those who are truly guilty will be held to account for their viscious and Godless attacks today.

remember them, all of them, the dead and the wounded, and also those who "just escaped".
those who "got the train before or the missed it", they are often the forgotten victims whose suffering is mainly psychological and without visible scars is thus downgraded.
Terror is a collective trauma and it will take some time before you realise as a society how terrified you have collectively been. You go through "calm", then "resolve", then "anger" which is often politically represented as manipulation of the event, then "disbelief" which turns quickly to "forgetting".

And there will be many people who will suffer depression, post-trauma and see their tube journeys now with a certain apprehension. As there will also be many members of the muslim community who will feel rationally or irrationally alienated, blamed or culpable. The 70s and 80s and early 90s in london saw many of my countrymen (irish) experience that division and alienation which can touch paranoia.

Express that, express your solidarity with the victims and the survivors.

all those, all of you, who are conscious now that "terrorism" really is just an infernal lottery.

But strangely with time you do "recover". The people of madrid recovered, the people of nyc recovered, the peoples of northern ireland recovered, the people of london have recovered before... Some day those in Baghdad and all the infernal lottery places will recover. but recovery means healing, and you heal collectively. Try and be conscious every time you use public transport that you are sitting next to "potential victims", it might at long last be time to "smile on the tube".

My deep sympathies to those affected directly and indirectly by yesterday's bombings. I hurt with the pain that has been created.

My first reaction to the news was...well they've done it again. And by "they", I don't mean Al Qaida - but the facist corporate-government alliance in the United States. Call me a conspiracy theorist, kook, what have you... but the ones with the most to gain from yesterday's explosions focus thier power through Washington DC. It's simply Occam's razor.

Exxon, Bectel, Haliburton, the military-industrial complex - all have much more to gain from global in$tability than any group of extremists in the Middle East. With Bush's popularity at an all time low, the G8 "prepared" to work on debt of the global south, and Britain prepared to pull out troops from Iraq - even hoping for maximum exposure, it seems illogical for Al-Qaida (whoever they are) to strike now.

Having just returned from the eco-camp in stirling i am a mix of emotions. I have an irrational sense of guilt about my presence in Scotland, my actions there and now the London bombings. My thoughts and support go out to all people affected by this violence and destruction and hope that my attempt at peaceful protest this week has made a small contribution to making things better?!

This latest attack is truly a horrible series of events, not lessened by the fact that it was half expected by many of us. The knowledge that it was an attack on us personally as 'Westerners' is particularly hard to bear.

I hate the thought of all the fear and trauma endured by all those involved and my thoughts are with those who lived to tell the tale, those who didn't make it and the families and friends of the dead and missing. I really did hope that this wouldn't happen here.

As a mum of a beautiful 15 month old daughter, I thank my lucky stars that my former City employer decided to make me redundant earlier this year, otherwise I fear I may have been caught up in this terrible terrible tragedy. I had intended to look for other employment in the City but decided that in the event of possible terrorism, it would be better to look for work locally. How I am now relieved at the decision I made.

My heartfelt thoughts are with all those who have suffered in this terrible tragedy; the victims; the victims' families and those who escaped who will now all be scarred for life from this terrible tragedy.

Like most I know we must carry on and show them that THEY SIMPLY WILL NOT WIN.
