G8 in Edinburg. Watch how the autonmous groups migrate

devilsh may with added fuzz | 02.07.2005 20:02 | G8 2005 | Globalisation | Social Struggles

Watch how the lesser spotted autonmous group is at home in it's natural environment, the summit mobilisation. Footage of G8 bike ride, clowns in full fettle [no kettle] and dissent swarming on Edinburg out of their radical trainage.

as above,

Let's raise the level to counter spin Live 8 propaganda. It's scary!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't use real media - or at least provide alternative formats for those of us who don't have real player and either don't wish to install it or can't.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use nonproprietory formats which are cross platform accessible.

try mpeg4 perhaps

free software equals freedom

Ok, this is a complicated issue, ecoding video and which codec etc and you will ever get video people agreeing on which is best , but...

> please do NOT use MPEG4!
> Best ones are .mov and .mpg or .mpeg or.avi

sorry, but that is nonsense.

.mov is not a codec. It is a quicktime wrapper (which is fairly cross platform) that contains a video encoded using a codec such as mpg4, or divx etc.

.avi is also a wrapper and not actually a video compression format. It is microsofts wrapper and may contain video encoded using a wide variety of formats (including mpeg4) or even raw uncompress video direct from DV.

.mpg (or .mpeg) is usual an mpg1 enconded video, which is an old format which is pretty good for screening and distributing video on CDROM but not compressed enough to be very useful for clips on indymedia. An mpg1 video requires about 10mb per minute while other codecs might be ten times smaller.

mpeg4 or divx is small and cross platform. It is far from perfect but widely used and an international standard. Almost everyone can play mpeg4 and it can be supplied even in it's native format .mp4 or within an .avi or .mov wrapper

There are open source video codecs.such as vp3 or thedora but only geeks are likely to have the codecs installed.

mpeg4 or divx is almost certainly the best compromise at the present time
