EDINBURGH: 9am the route of the MPH march has now been fully fenced off. Coaches are arriving.

Around 150 people have left the Jack Kane campsite and are marching through the local estates. There are protestors as well as people from the community cenrte marching together. A samba band is playing and people are waving from their doors - good atmosphere. The plan is to then catch the buses down into town for the Make poverty history march. Banners made by the local communtiy are leading the march.

1200 Tens of thousands of people have been gatherring at the meadows in Edinburgh for the start of the march.

From earlier: 9.30 Excellent speach from walden bello and other poverty camapigners from africa and south east asia.Lord provost said Edinburgh was privilaged to host such a historic day.

12.15 THE MARCH HAS STARTED - most people are wearing white - march being led by various celebrities inc bianca jagger, babamaal, and daniel bedingfield and the head of the catholic church.
