TROOPS OUT DEMO

Martin | 20.05.2004 14:56

The people behind the Iraq War believe in perpitual War. We have to meet this with persistent and imaginative activity.

Hi,

Just to let you know that there will be a Troops out demo on the steps of the royal concert hall at the top of Buchanan Street, this Friday(210504) at 5pm.

We are a loose network of people with a single aim; getting Troops out of Iraq. We aren't affiliated to any political parties or any coalition and welcome all ideas/initiatives based on our single aim.

We don't believe this will be achieved by a big demo every four or five months alone. So, what we believe is needed, is constant, persistent and imaginative activity, aimed at getting Troops out of Iraq.

If you agree with our aim, see you on Friday.

Yes let's get the troops out. The sooner we abandon the Iraqi people to Islamic extreemists and pro Saddam loyalists the better . . . .

O hang on a second that's not right . . .. perhaps we should stay and help the majority of Iraqis who want a democratic, free non religious society to have their choice ???

Ah, so you believe the right wing media then. Pull the troops out? CIVIL WAR! Those Arabs are so nasty, they are just waiting for a chance to unleash hell on each other.

The fact that Shia AND Sunni Muslims are marching TOGETHER against occupation doesn't enter people's minds. All the killing and attacks that are taking place in Iraq is aimed at the US/UK troops, not each other.

"O hang on a second that's not right . . .. perhaps we should stay and help the majority of Iraqis who want a democratic, free non religious society to have their choice ???"

Surely most of Iraqis are either Shia or Sunni. What right do you have to say they should have a non-religious society?

Democracy??

I think after recent events the idea of the US/UK occupation bringing democracy is just ludicrous!! They are torturing people for fucks sake!! What's more, they are not even prepared to face up to the consequences of theses actions (ie resign)!! The sooner the troops come out, the better. Who cares if they Iraqis choose an Islamic system (not exactly done a good job of selling them "Western values" so far have we??!!). The point is THEY get to choose this, that's what democracy is all about ...isn't it??

Actually no. Maybe the troops should stay because if they stay much longer they will probably suffer the biggest military defeat in US history!!

Vive le resistance!
