Glasgow evicting asylum seekers

ALMOST 170 asylum seekers who have lost appeals to stay in the UK are being evicted from their homes by Glasgow City Council.

The Scottish Refugee Council (SRC) and housing charities last night described the policy as "shameful".

However, councillors have claimed that they are forced to carry out the policy by immigration laws set down by the UK government.

The Home Office, which is in charge of immigration policy, said that providing aid to those who had been denied asylum undermined its policy that they should leave the country.

Papers starting eviction proceedings have been received by 167 asylum seekers in Glasgow and 20 have been carried out in the past two weeks.

unfortunately the articles in the Scotsman/Herald etc. disappear in the archive one day after it got published in the newspaper/ on the website.
I find it disgusting that thenyou might have to pay 2 pounds for an article to retrieve the information.

Anyway I also think these evictions are horrible and another example for institutional rascism and class-war.

Britian was once one of the most popular country to flee persecution- for intellectuals persecuted in their own countries for their beliefs and work, for workers and for refugees fleeing discrimination. It was deemed one of the most tolerant countries and well known for its acceptance towards other cultures and beliefs, but this is changing for the worse.

I would like to help stop the eviction, but am not based in Glasgow.
Is there any campaign or else going on to put a stop to the councils shamefull practise of increasing homelessness and dispair?
With whom is it possible to link up? Let's do something!

nope

Ok lets do something

but before that lets get few of the basic misinformation sorted out first becasue that s the biggest contribution one may make.

>Britian was once one of the most popular country to flee persecution

Well were influential from the beggining in global fascism and repression and remain to be the continuing bastion to maintain this pariah status.... Messopotaemia and present day Iraq is a testament to Britains nasty global record!
So I wonder when was there was ever a window of opportunity to sort ourselves out leave alone becoming the _most popular_ ?

>It was deemed one of the most tolerant countries and well known for its acceptance ....

Did you havea dream or probably you listened to one of the thrild world facist from the ruling classes fascists we create globally ?

I wonder

accept your argument for "the most popular", but still wonder as you don't give any practical alternative on "how to improve or make things better, just see you posting all the time insulting people, unable to enagage socially.
a) do you ever get off your computer and do something practical?
b) can you write proper texts and arguments without insulting people and without using the word pig, pigscum etc ? Or is you language limited to 500 words only?
c) do you talk like you write in physical space or do you just whimp along then and it is all anonymous big-mouthing but nothing behind?
I'd be really curious about that.

nope

The solution is there innit

First understand where we are and why we are here.
ie, cut out all the bullshit about the great empire of benevolent people crap.

Just doing this will ensure most of the issues are resolved.
How you may ask ....... I will tell you.
Once there is realisation of the root of the problem (in this case the global refugee crisis directly due to our consumerist actions) the anger that boils within us will not only tear down the fences it will ensure the pigscum are put away safely never to reoffend again.
Otherwise you will find your self dancing the Samba, a bit of fun here and there with a photo opportunity or two, getting pushed around, told to get a job and similar....

As for myself I have such a huge stammer that I am almost unable to speak and I have huge bum that makes me not able to dance the Samba. Happy?

I think, this evictions are not only in Glasgow. These things are going in England and in the EC too.
It is a wrong way that leads over brutality to barbarism.
And it is not only horrible it is sad too, because this brutal way is not necessary.
There is a humane way too which helps the people, manages the some results and moreover is less expensive.
I think we must spread this idea that politicians should take this humane way.
