One of the 9 activists who were able to gain access into the military basis at the evening of the 6th of august to climb a post and a tree, stayed there for over 12 hours with a giant banner, and was still there in the morning when 5 other activists blockaded the main gate of Faslane.
Trident Ploughshares International Disarment Camp 02.08.-15.08.2003 Sie hatten sich mit Hilfe von Rohren und Karabinern aneinandergekettet, The activists had chained themselves together with tubes and karabiners. The police worked for over three hours to provide access to the gate again. The whole traffic was blocked and had to be diversed to the south gate, including the of the workers, changing their shifts. Some of the arrested activists were taken into custody for the night and will be brought in front of the magistrate the next day. They will be accused with “Breach of the peace”, fines are expected.
Otherwise many small actions are happening here, again and again a piece of fence is damaged or improved by slogans. The police is always getting very exited if activists approach the military bases and is therefore kept active.
