they told me they would be released in half an hour, when I rang up at about 5pm!

note

1 released from St Leonards Polis Station

1 released from St Leonards Polis Station after 10pm

He was charged with breach of peace, and allegedly collecting money without license (note groups should point this risk out to people they ask to collect money for the cause at demo). He was arrest while photographing police tactics on princes Street.

Others will appear in court on Monday and maybe released if cell pressure tonight else held till then.

Inquiry?

Questions need to be asked about the conduct of Lothian & Borders Police today... the march was entirely calm and good natured until one of the stewards was (allegedly) beaten with batons. Whether this is entirely true or not remains to be seen, but if it is then the police are guilty of the most blatant and inexcusable provocation and must consider themselves responsible for the tension later in the afternoon.

And thats aside from the possible assault.

edinburgh detentions

I have just rung up the police station (8am Sunday). The first person I spoke to claimed that it would be against the Human Rights Act to reveal information about anyone who had been arrested. I pointed out that if they had asked for information to be given about them then this would not be the case. I asked if they had been asked about this and she became flustered, putting me on to someone else. He refused to talk about them at all, claiming that this would violate the Data Protection Act. This is also incorrect.

Anyone who was around should give the Stop the War organisers their observations, there might be many clues.

David
