Protest against Gap on International womens' day in Edinburgh.

About 50 people in total spread over 2 and a half hours
protested against GAPs use of Sweatshop labour on Saturday
8th March- International Womens day .The protest was held outside the central GAP on Princes street in Edinburgh. There were great speeches made by women from the FBU, Amnesty, Stop the War and Workers Left Unity- Iran organisations .The highlight was a group of around 20 school students joining in in an improvised song about sweatshop labour initiated by the socialist womens network.
The protest was organised by No Sweat and supported by People and Planet, the Stuc' Womens committee, Amnesty International, Oxfam, Edinburgh TUC and the Socialist Womens Network.

very strange, that a man reports froma womens' action on International womens' Day. no critisism against you, pal, but, honestly, isn't that a bit strange? Doesn't this defy your purpose? How serious is womens' liberation taken than in your organisation?

How priceless!

How priceless it is to see a leftist whack-job criticizing a report on a leftist whack-job event all because it was written by a MAN! *laughs* No wonder you folks never get anything accomplished--you spend all of your time arguing with each other about political correctness rather than focusing on simple effectiveness!

what about mens rights? arnt we half the population?

24.05.2004 12:00

It amazes me of all the human rights issues around the world and people in this country telling others what to do (normally poorer countries).
when in this country prob the biggest human rights issue ever!!!! is on the agenda.
what about men and mens rights? living in this so called democracy!!!.
who is going to take any and i mean any notice of any uk law!!!.
when everyone in the uk has no rights even to see ones own child regardless whether he is wrong or not!!.
so the british public are fed up hearing human rights abuse issues in other countries, what a laugh!!! why cant we get this country sorted first then deal with others.
