This year, International Women’s Day looks likely to take place while our government and the US will be bombing Iraq.
Globalise Resistance Scotland is inviting everyone to take part in an anti-war event outside the RAF Air Base in Leuchars, North East Fife, on this day and the Scottish Coalition for Justice not War and Fife Stop the War group are supporting this action.
The event is open to all - women, men, activists, students, young and old. We will be taking an open top bus from Glasgow George Square to Leuchars departing from George Square at 1pm to arrive at the base for 3pm.
Our plan is to have women travelling on the open top bus that can be used as platform for speakers at the gathering outside the Air Base. Coaches for men and women will also be leaving Glasgow.
The RAF Leuchars Air Base in North East Fife has been involved in the bombing of Iraq since 1991. The Tornadoes leaving from here are crucial to the UK mobilisation for war.
Our aim on the day is to protest against our government’s attack on the innocent people of Iraq and to appeal directly to members of the Air Squadrons not to fight Bush and Blair’s war.
Please contact us and book a place on the women's bus or coach. Tickets £5. Children travel for free.
Please ask your trades union, political party, stop the war group etc. to support this day of action. Why not ask your group to sponsor a coach?
