Hundreds of anti-war protestors take to the streets of Edinburgh
Around 600 demonstrators gathered in Edinburgh to protest against war in Iraq. Carrying banners and placards, the diverse crowd of cyclists and people on foot marched up the Royal Mile to deliver letters of protest to First Minister Jack McConnell at the Scottish Parliament.
They then marched to the US Consulate where they also delivered their letters of protest. Police retained a low-key presence at the demo, and allowed it to take its course.

One protester said:
"Everyone I know is against the war. Tony Blair has sent 30,000 troops to the Middle East to fight an unjust and imperialist war in our name. We've got to take to the streets to stop this. If we can show that the weight of public opinion is against the war, we can make it much more difficult for Blair and Bush to retain credibility."

"We'll all be in Glasgow at the demonstration on the 15th February. Even people who have never taken part in a demonstration in their lives will be at that demo to protest against the war."
