British Men say ‘No’ to Posh Spice on a desert island with them

Sean Wood | 25.06.2009 11:06 | Other Press | Oxford

Less than 3% of British men would escape with Posh Spice to a desert island this summer

Edinburgh, UK, June 23, 2009. The results of a recent survey conducted by casual dating site, www.benaughty.com, revealed the celebrities us Brits would like to spend summer 2009 with, on a desert island.

All British men who took part in the survey, regardless of their age, selected Victoria Beckham as their least favourite celebrity when given a choice of six that included Jordan (Katie Price), Kate Moss, Siena Miller, Cheryl Cole and Alesha Dixon.

Footballer’s wife, Cheryl Cole emerged as favourite female celebrity across responses from men aged 18 to 46 and over, whilst Simon Cowell received the most votes from female respondents on the same category, taking the first prize from Declan Donnelly, from famous comedy act ‘Ant & Dec’.

Anthony McPartlin, ‘Ant’, received the lowest number of votes from female respondents on the same category where his comedy partner was second runner up.

Dermot O’Leary was women’s preferred choice, with over 30% of votes, on the category of Radio and TV presenters, where less than 5% of female voters chose Chris Evans. The same category saw ‘Dancing on Ice’ presenter Holly Willoughby being voted as the men’s favourite with just over 24% of the vote, while Natasha Kaplinsky took second place with nearly 22% of the male vote.

Scotland-born actor, Ewan McGregor, received more than 30% of the female vote on the famous actor category, stealing the top spot from the star of Casino Royal, Daniel Craig, who enjoyed less than 27% of the women’s vote.

Keira Knightley was men’s favourite actress with nearly 36% of the overall male vote, however, Kate Winslet was favoured by voters in Edinburgh, where the majority of respondents chose her over Keira Knightley. In contrast, the most votes from men aged 46 and over were given to Helen Mirren.

More than 40% of British men would spend the summer with Lily Allen, who was competing against Leona Lewis, Duffy, KT Tunstall, Alexandra Burke and Natasha Bedingfield, in the singers’ category. Nearly 27% of British female voters preferred James Morrison, followed by Lemar in second place with over 20% of the vote.

The poll collected opinions from a total of nearly eight thousand people, a mix of male and female respondents between the ages of 18 and 46 plus. Each gender was given six answer options on each of four categories: famous actors and actresses, radio and TV presenters, singers and well-known celebrities; all British.
