The UK`s first ever Veggie Pride event is set to hit the streets of Birmingham. On Saturday 16th May 2009, Veggie Pride UK will be a fantastic, fun-filled festival and carnival procession - a celebration of vegetarian and vegan lifestyles. All are welcome and admission is free. Eastcroft Expansion given the `Green Light'


We were extremely disappointed and frustrated to hear that after 4 years of successful campaigning, the Government has over ruled Nottingham City's Councils decision to refuse the expansion of Eastcroft incinerator in Nottingham.



Waste (we don't) Recycle Group (WRG) have now effectively passed the final hurdle to build their third incinerator and import 100,000 tonnes of waste a year into Nottingham, to incinerate it rather than recycle.



This is a severe blow to our campaign, to democracy and for the future of our health and environment. Over 3000 Nottingham residents said no in a petition, the Planning Officer said no as did Nottingham City Council, yet the Government ignored this and have now forced this onto the people of Nottingham.

You are invited on the 22nd March to sow some seeds, meet others, listen (or dance!) to local musicians and celebrate the start of spring in Nottingham.

The public consultation for the new visitor centre has begun and ends 23rd Jan. This is a fantastic chance to make the new visitor centre a showcase for low impact sustainable design.

This community project offers people a large carrier bag of seasonal veg for just £3, sold weekly at 2 community centres by volunteers.

Nottingham Council this week unveiled designs for a replacement facility for the Victoria Baths leisure centre, which they decided to close last year. The move to pledge £8m of taxpayers' money for another construction project, in lieu of a £1m refurbishment, defied popular opinion. This week campaigners who previously praised the Council described their disappointment at the conduct of the Council in the affair.

On Friday 31 October, Nottingham's Critical Mass Bike Ride started from the Market Square on Halloween Night. Critical Mass is for everyone who rides a bike in Nottingham and wants to take part. Meeting at 5pm, this was the first in some time in the city, and was really well attended.

At yesterdays 'Free food giveaway' hungry, poverty stricken students at NTU trawled through a mountain of tasty VEGAN food outside the students union.

The public inquiry into the appeal of Waste Recycling Groups planning application to expand the incinerator in Nottingham started on 9 September. This coming Friday 19 September will be the public's chance to state their position.

A regular play space for practice, sharing, teaching + learning circus skills(and related ting like magic, propmaking, etc);is starting on Tuesdays, at the Sumac Centre.
This is open for all but especially for those opting out of school or work. There are much better things to do and this is one of them.

Following a succession of 'free food giveaways' Nottingham Animal Rights and Vegan Campaigners will be hosting their next giveaway outside Nottingham Trent Uni's Student Union. Just as all the new students have arrived into Nottingham.

While the public inquiry starts on Tuesday 9th September, that will ultimately decide if Waste recycling Group can expand Nottingham's Incinerator, the company show utter contempt for the public health by commiting further pollution breaches.

With news of a new restaurant (Vienna) on the Nottingham dining scene, and foie gras on the menu Nottingham Animal Rights were keen to make contact to discuss the realities of foie gras and our 'foie gras free Nottingham' initiative.

The Nottingham Animal Rights crew take great tasting vegan food to the masses and get the facts out about McDonalds. The overwhelming majority of the public are delighted by delicious food and more than slightly concerned by the dubious ethical practices of everybody's least favourite (alright KFC & Burger King, joint least...) fast food chain.

To highlight the incredible suffering inflicted on millions of animals by KFC, including a staggering 960,000 chickens every hour, the Nottingham Animal Rights crew spent a productive Thursday evening leafletting outside KFC.
