For the Easter weekend, the group (numbering about 35 including the Liverpool lot) tripped off to Wales to stay in an ecologically sound hostel in Corris (which I can highly recommend). During the stay we had a few workshops centered around ecological issues, mostly focussing on the continued destruction of the Maltese islands by money-grabbing corporations intent on makeing more money - in particular, the Kalkara Valley which used to be an organic farm and is now being turned into flats, and a proposed golf course which will destroy large areas of farmland. We also went walking up mountains (well done to the Maltese who made it to the top!), spent a day on the beach and visted the Center for Alternative Technologies, all of which gave th Maltese (and some of us) a chance to see ecosystems which they otherwise have no contact with.
The following week was spent in and around Liverpool, taking in the culture (beer) an the sights.
A fine time was had by all, with many happy faces on Sunday 27th when most of the Maltese returned home. Four activists are still in Liverpool, and are participateing in the MayDay celebrations - lending an international feel to the party.
