This evening a group of activists and artists knitted the word 'ARROGANT' onto fencing on Mill Road; the group, calling themselves 'Get Knitted', wanted to protest against Tesco's decision to plow ahead with plans for a store on Mill Road. One person on the scene said that the word was a comment on Tesco's attitude and behaviour.

Tesco's plans have been a cause for concern for many members of the local community, causing residents, business owners, activists and others to unite in the No Mill Road Tesco campaign. A passerby offered the opinion that "David Icke makes more sense" than a Tesco on Mill Road.

See  http://www.nomillroadtesco.org/ for more information on the campaign and the background to this action.

Squat the plot

That looks like an empty building on the site! Squatting it would make it allot harder for them to knock it down and build the Tesco.

The building was squatted last year, providing space for a successful social centre. The squat was eventually evicted, however. So far Tesco has been delayed for a considerable time, but seem to be moving towards the tactic of fitting the shop out and then expanding/applying for retrospective planning permission/etc. That's just my guess though.
