We know that thick people are usually the criminals and who can't seem to live in a civilised manner, so do we expect TOO MUCH from Israel?

This is a load of racist shite. Like it or not, Israel has produced numerous Nobel laureates and countless people who have started up world-class companies/organisations, in exactly the same way that other countries have. Give Mr and Ms Equatorial Guinea the same continuing educational and social standards as some of the so-called higher-IQ countries and doubtless they would achieve the same. It's nothing to do with brain size, it's to do with opportunity.

I though the concept of IQ testing was largely discredited nowadays anyway; is this not so?

bearing in mind IQ test were made specifically for white western males it's not that surprising that the UK, USA, etc have around 100 - of course they do, their average was taken as the average for all - it's therefore also not surprising that non western countries have a 'below average' score. Putting aside the question of the validity or otherwise of the original research (personally I don't know enough about it to judge), the actual content of the post is simply stupid.

The poster cannot even read his own table:

Actually according to the table Greece has the lowest in Europe, whatever that means.

The author also does not seem to know the difference between nations, races and even continents:

Even proponents of IQ don't equate it with actual intelligence. Since Jews in the US have a far higher IQ than average then there can be no serious racial explanation of IQ variance. This repeated variance between a diasporas IQ and the 'mother country' exposes the central mistake of racist inquiry, that there are no hard and fast races. Race is as abstract and arbitary a concept as class.
Correlation isn't causation. Differences in education expenditure and access would be a more reasonable explantion of any such correlation.

I think it's a pretty idiotic article, but I don't think that's a reason to delete it - I think it's precicely articles like this that help develop an ability to filter and catagorise content - any worries about people being unduly influenced are just bigoted (you think other people are 'thick') and misguided, mostly because as the comments tear it (however poorly) to shreds on its OWN basis, rather than some ideological perogative....

It's insulting to the Irish who may consider their violent history is at least partly due to the behaviour of the British rather than a flaw in their own abilities. It's insulting to criminals and insulting to stupid people and to poor people. It's hard to find someone the post doesn't insult, although I'm sure the idea is popular in Hong Kong and with the super rich (incidentally, millionaires have lower than average IQs ). It's just visibly wrong in too many ways to critique.

Worse than that though, is insulting to the reader for IM to leave it visible as if it is something worth debating or arguing against. Rough rule of thumb, filter out any post that contains the words Race and IQ. That post is so fucking racist it is probably illegal to publish it without a disclaimer. Maybe no IMCista has seen it yet, but they did see the Bonobo article which is another obvious breech of the Discrimination guidelines.

I have to say that my hangover excuse is starting to ware thin this post should have been removed ages ago (perhaps everyone is off chasing easter eggs).

Do you think it would be usefull if indymedia UK had a "flag up this article" button as other imcs and many forums have?......
