We hope to go out with the August/Sept team, but it will cost £740 per person. We feel compelled to go out with the Charity because there a lot of animals in desperate need. There are a lot of stray dogs and cats which suffer from snake bites, road accidents, mange, starvation, and burns (locals throw boiling water, acid or stones at the strays to get rid of them. There are also lots of abandoned puppies and kittens which are dumped in rubbish bins or born to stray mothers.

They are a veggie group and promote vegetarian or vegan diets. They are improving welfare for animals in slaughterhouses in Sri Lanka by providing shelter from the sun, water to drink and ramps for unloading (before they had to jump from trucks, often breaking their legs). They have also rescued and re-homed 18+ cows from slaughter houses.

The work includes feeding, worming, vaccinating, neutering, treating injuries and homing street dogs and cats. They also work on reforming the slaughter-houses. Other projects include working in Colombo Zoo (Sri Lanka) to improve conditions, and trying to stop the illegal practice of capturing porcupines for a tourist attraction.
Another important part of their work is education. They hold talks to promote respect for animals, and inform local people of basic animal care.

If you can help with a donation towards the costs or donate dog food, collars, worming tablets then please email the ARC email address, all donations very gratefully received.
