George Galloway, MP for Bethnal Green and Bow in the UK House of Commons since 2005, has dropped a clear hint that he may not stand as a candidate for Parliament from London again.
The hint is contained in a Scottish news web site today.
The apparent, and topical context of Galloway’s reported intention to return to Scotland to try to become an MP from there again, is the reported role played by Glasgow MP and current speaker of the UK House of Commons Michael Martin in the parliamentary aspects of the recent Metropolitan police raid on, search and arrest of the Conservative Party MP and that Party’s immigration affairs spokesperson Damian Green.
Galloway has made several statements over the issue after it became obvious that the Police conduct had been condemned by the widest possible spread of opinions in the UK.
Galloway has been involved in a personal exchanges with Michael Martin over the particular decision made to exclude Galloway from the UK House of Commons during 2007.
But Galloway has made a point in the past that he still supported Martin, citing the various comments made from a particularly nasty Right-wing snobbish section.
Over the issue of the widely ;perceived and wrong role by Martin on the police behaviour towards 'the MP' Damian Green, Galloway has stated that this incident had been a catalyst, definitively confirming that Martin was no longer deserving of his support.
Galloway’s latest expression of a deep yarning to return to Scotland is not isolated. He has been in close touch with a number of people since being ousted from the Party that Blair sabotaged. One of those has been the highly controversial Tommy Sheridan. The other has been Galloway’ s involvement with the Daily Record which has been carrying a once weekly [Mondays] column with Galloway's by-line.
It has been consistently reported that Galloway has a small number of associates and or friends in London all of whom come from Scotland. One of those is of course Ron McKay.
In the recent [‘positive’] ‘reversals’ in the electoral fortunes of the Blaired Party as fronted by Gordon Brown, George Galloway has appeared to be interested in letting Alex Salmond of the SNP know that Galloway could be ready to bury part of the hatchet with the Blairing mafia in the country.
So it is possible that Galloway may still find it worth his while to review his entire party political prospects and prospectus in new lights...
This may appear contradictory, given that Michael Martin will still be the official candidate for the Blaired party, but Galloway may be tempted to try out his own links with the ‘grassroots’ in Glasgow and in the adjacent electoral neighborhoods …
Which takes this commentary back to the stated Battle of the Scots that Galloway had promised in the direction of Jim Fitzpatrick, the OTHER current MP for a Tower Hamlets seat in the UK House of Commons..…
What would have been the chances of Galloway succeeding in moving Fitzpatrick k off his perch? Those chances would have been difficult to garner into a successful outcome for Galloway the challenger... especially in view o the fact that Fitzpatrick has got in his ‘political pocket’ the longest list of ‘ethnicity linked’ individuals who ALSO claim to ‘control’ the votes of the various small units of Bangladeshi voters in the Borough.,… And Fitzpatrick also knows that even that would not guarantee him a neat retention at the polls.….So Fitzpatrick has been making himself available whenever he feels any movement in his political kitchen.…. Fitzpatrick in Tower Hamlets is probably the only ‘Ministerial post-holder’ who has been cited as ‘a mate’ by the largest number of political nonentities who would otherwise not merit a mention let alone a credit in a rigorous and reasonable world
But Tower Hamlets is not represented in rigorous and reasonable way by either by Fitzpatrick or by the corrupt clique in control of Tower Hamlets Council.…
BOTH feed off each other.
The agenda of politics in Tower Hamlets as far as those who are in post in the Council and in the Brown-fronted Blaired administration centrally go, is one of brazen pettiness and opportunism. No ethics. No morality.
At a time when civil liberties are under severe threat from Brown-fronted cabal that is driving out of public life all the various [albeit limited and still tentative] institutions and safeguards of a pro-democracy society that was built in Britain after centuries of battles and sacrifice by ordinary people, the truth is that there is no point in asking Brown to deliver democracy.
He has missed the point about the outrage that greeted the surveillance, raid and arrest of Damian Green.
Brown is set to presume that the USA, post the outcome of the formal 4 November 2008 votes, will continue to follow the anti-democracy agenda over the rest of the world and that no matter what the adjustments are that the over-hyped Obama fronted regime may make domestically the world view of the USA would support a pro-imperialistic, pro-racist line.
That is why Brown is set to continue along the authoritarian path. And the Tory party, notwithstanding Damian Green affair and notwithstanding David Davis, will go along with Brown.
When it comes to the USA, the ‘British incumbent at No 10 Downing street’ and any shadow - whether shadowy or halfway straight - is very much behind the collective image of the USA.….
That attitude is very bad for democracy. And for civil liberty. And for the economy.
And that is where the real surrender of parliament is taking place..

The SUNDAY MAIL web site quotes Galloway as follows:
“"I was a Glasgow MP for almost 20 years. I miss Glasgow a lot and if I was to do this that would be one of the attractions."
This is not the first time that Galloway

George Galloway Ready To Take On Commons Speaker
Dec 21 2008 By Mark Aitken Political Editor
MAVERICK MP George Galloway could break centuries of protocol in a bid to oust Commons Speaker Michael Martin.
Galloway is furious that Martin has not quit over his failure to keep police probing Tory Damian Green out of the Commons.
And he is considering standing against him in Glasgow North East at the next general election - breaking the convention that the Speaker is elected unopposed.
Galloway, who represents London's Bethnal Green and Bow for his own Respect party, said: "People have been approaching me about it and it is wise in politics never to say never. Speculation is exaggerated, which means it isn't ruled out and isn't ruled in.
"I was a Glasgow MP for almost 20 years. I miss Glasgow a lot and if I was to do this that would be one of the attractions."
Galloway, who was expelled from Labour over his anti-war views, has been a strong supporter of Martin, accusing MPs who call the Speaker "Gorbals Mick" of snobbery.
But he believes Martin, who has indicated he wants a third term as Speaker, is beyond saving over his handling of the Green affair.
