Birmingham City Council also link to the competition site  http://www.writersofthefuture.com/ where you can win "The L. Ron Hubbard Gold Award, a magnificent trophy with a god [sic] quill and star set in red-based lucite". The site's 'shop' links to  http://www.galaxypress.com/ 'a publisher of the fiction works of L. Ron Hubbard' the deceased founder of the cult.

To find out more about the dangers of Scientology, it's illegal and unethical activities, particularly it's 'fair game policy' go here:  http://www.xenu.net/

If you take exception to your City Council promoting a dangerous cult, contact the Leisure and Tourism Department at Birmingham City Council and point out they shouldn't endorse cults like the Church of Scientology to people including children who are interested in science fiction.

Contacting Southwark Council got them to remove Narconon links from their website (initial report  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/01/390439.html , removal  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/london/2008/02/391009.html). Here's hoping Birmingham does the same.
