Heckler & Koch Campaign :: Spread the Word. Meeting in the Market Square, Nottingham, on Monday 11 May, folks from the Campaign gathered at a stall and gave out leaflets and spoke to passers-by.

On Thu 14th May it will be exactly one year since the wrongful arrest of Hicham Yezza under the Terrorism Act. Hich was cleared of any involvement in terrorism but was immediately detained again for alleged immigration offences. The Home Office is still trying to deport Hich to Algeria. Please join us by taking whatever action you can on the anniversary of Hich’s arrest. We need to highlight the injustice and exert pressure for his release before it is too late.

For those who couldn't make the 'Days of Action' in Strasbourg, Protestors gathered in the Market Square on Saturday 4th April from 12:30 to 13:30. They were demonstrating in opposition to NATO. It was the 60th anniversary of the organisations existence. This was Nottingham's contribution to the europe-wide protests and actions, to express their concerns at it's latest military adventures.

In May 2008 Hicham Yezza, an IT technician at the University of Nottingham, was arrested, together with student Rizwaan Sabir, in a well-publicised anti-terrorist swoop. They had downloaded al-Qaida material from the US Department of Defense website as part of Sabir's academic work on terrorism.

Hicham Yezza, our resident political dissident, has been sentenced to an appalling nine-month jail term by the racist judge who oversaw his trial. This was despite a wealth of mitigating factors.

Notts Students Die-In Protest Against Arms Trade

On Wednesday 11th February, a group of students staged a die-in protest to highlight the University of Nottingham's extensive links with arms companies. This protest was held as part of a national day of action against the arms trade, called by Campaign Against the Arms Trade Universitys Network.

Protest at Arms to Israel from Staffordshire

A protest was held today outside UAV Ltd. in Shenstone, Staffordshire to protest against the company's link with the repression and massacre in Gaza. 30 protesters from around the Midlands, including locals from Shenstone, gathered to draw attention to the fact that this company is owned by the Israeli defence contractor Elbit systems, and all the evidence points to them producing the engines for the drones which have been used to carry out surveillance and targeting for the IDF strike fighters.
