Although his deportation to Algeria on June 1 was stopped at the last minute, a bail hearing for Hicham Yezza has only now been scheduled for Monday June 16. Supporters are hopeful that there will be a successful outcome and Hich will be released from detention and allowed to defend himself properly.

A stall outside St.Peters Church, continued to inform passers-by about the issue, and to collect more signatures for the petition.

"As it stands Amdani is now due to be deported on Tuesday evening 10th June. Liam Byrne called Amdani's MP Alan Simpson in for a meeting. Simpson reported that Byrne is going to look into the case again. In the meantime there was one of the biggest demonstrations Nottingham has seen in recent years in the town centre on Saturday 31st May. Around 300 people gathered to make known our message that Amdani must stay. Even though the Simpson/Byrne meeting gives a ray of hope we are still calling on people to contact the Home Office etc. For frequent updates, model letters etc.

On June 2, some 150 demonstrators protested in the Market Square in Nottingham, England to oppose the imminent deportation of Amdani Juma. Another demonstration was held the previous Saturday in the town.

Since his detention on friday 30th May, this is the second demonstration in his support in the Market Square.

Amdani Juma is currently detained in Lindholme detention centre pending deportation on Wednesday, much has been written about Amdani but nothing illustrates the immense empathy, grace and dignity of this man than the concerns he is raising at this time of great personal anxiety and fear.

In support, there was a well attended demonstration on Saturday 31st May, to highlight his case.

There is to be another demo in the Market Square on Monday 2nd. June at 17.00 in support of Amdani Juma. It is requested by the organisers that everyone wears black if possible.

Following the cancellation order on his deportation and despite being unjustly incarcerated for over two weeks, Hicham Yezza has received news that he is to be transported to a fifth detention centre. He released this statement today from Colnbrook immigration removal centre:

Amdani Juma has received notice that he is to be deported on Wednesday 4 June on Kenya Airways flight KQ101 (Terminal 4, Heathrow). Friends are distributing a petition calling for him to stay.

A demonstration in support of Amdani Juma has been called for tomorrow, Saturday 31st May @ 12.30 in the Market Square.

Supporters were pleased to hear today that Hicham Yezza won't be deported on Sunday. This doesn't mean the struggle is over, far from it, but he is no longer at risk of imminent removal.

The last two days have seen the detention of Jane-Mary Mutetsi and today Amdani Juma. Please circulate this information to those who can offer support.
