Sheffield Indymedia has organised a series of film screenings that challange the concept of the perputal 'war on terror' and questions the real motives of the governments and corporations who are promoting this war.

These films have never been seen on TV or screened in the cinema.

One of the central themes of many of the films is the proposition that the attacks in New York and Washington on 11th September 2001 were actually an inside job organised by elements within the US administration in order to win public support for an offensive war to gain control of oil resources in the Middle East.

The films are screening every Sunday evening in July at SIF (Sheffield Independent Film) on Brown Street, entry is a suggested donation of £1 and there will be time for discussion about the issues raised in the films after each screening.

On Saturday 18th March, photographer and Indymedia contributor Alan Lodge - or Tash - was arrested after taking photos of armed police in public. Tash continued to deny the charge of wilfully obstructing a police officer at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Tuesday the 23rd May. A trial date has now been set for the 17th October

Throughout the world, 3 May serves as an occasion to inform the public of violations of the right to freedom of expression and as a reminder that many journalists brave death or jail to bring people their daily news.

On saturday 18th March, on the way to do some shopping and visiting in town, I diverted to follow some police activity, that turned out to be an armed turnout. Helicopter overhead and the heavy mob tearing about near Huntingdon Street and the Mansfield Road, with many guns, here in Nottingham.

Nottingham Indymedia have a new Banner

Nottinghamshire Indymedia has published a printed version of showcasing recent articles and the website.

Nottingham Student Peace Movement held a day of discussion about global political issues, and what we can do about them on a local level, at the University of Nottinham on Sunday. There was a discussion about the need to 'Overcoming Media Bias'.

We've worked over the last month to make some changes to the website to make it easier and more accessible for people to publish news on the Notts Indymedia website.

A exhibition, describing the work and objectives of Nottinghamshire Indymedia has opened to some acclaim at the ASBO Centre. Please go and take a peek!

Here a request for photos of the Geishas that were part of the protests at the G8 summit. The Make Poverty History march, the Faslane blockade or the first day of the summit in and around Stirling were some of the things in which the 'Geishas of Gaiety' were 'mingling in the masses'. Also other actions in Nottingham, Sheffield and Derby had Geishas, any photos of that would be great.
