(for "covenant" .... recognise "social contract" - a way of arranging ourselves for people to all exist together - happier!)
The "do as you might want to get done to" bit was most often reflected in a "good samaritan" parable or somesuch - the medina multi-faith covenant, for instance, or even tales, such as the wise magii/ nativity that included very different unnamed faiths, animals, etc!!!!
To some extent the "looking at the same large rhinocerous from different bits of the room" explains much of the "differences" - in other ways perhaps the very diversity in cooperation is the strength thats needed. (****!) Perhaps a "you take the high road, i take the low road - but somehow, we'll get there" attitude .Often where it came to the "splits" within religions, the "uncompromising" road "v" the "accomodating" road, co-option is easier to spot with hindsight - as are the "inserts" or "slants" that rewritten texts acquire . . . . then the
The "profiteers against prophets" malfunctioning bits of society, when they havent tried to exploit or repress this reasoned set of covenants, have often tried to use the "'cos i say so!" factor to prop up weak unearned "authorities", or tried to use it as a racket (pardon???? in advance! see chaucer!) , or to play the "clash of societies - that means LOOTING!" card.
But in the same way that we shouldnt "throw the baby out with the bathwater" to dismiss or forget the good , (often, very ) inspiring nature of (each of ) these spiritual approaches to organising
( - even sometime "co-opted" religions have kept a seed of something that renews, again + again, in a way that the most cynical irreligious type can also draw strength of a good example from)
so the "infowar distortions" have responded by trying to overemphasize the "i'm with them" bit of each tradition, instead of the "what do we (all) agree on . . . . what can we do about it (together)" , practical side.
But, in lots of ways, "religion" is . . . . good manners, with science, progress, economics, + the occasional (oft added to) basic guide for life .... growing old, having kids, etc, etc, etc, etc, + some seasonal celebrations.... an approach to trying to comprehend good, or "god", some of the "mysterious ways" around us , that even "quantum science" hasnt quite worked out yet, + perhaps find a response to "miss you.... love you" that transcends the most extreme of situations . . . .
Yer "blueprint/ how to/ designs for...." that any sentience gets around to, in fact. (- often with the added inclusion of ancestors + the future, each tradition often having evolved its own ways of explaining things, its own language of tales, metaphors, parables, etc, each going into its own waves of "back to basics" +/or continuing progress in the spirit of that "social contract" or "covenant" twixt past, present + futures )
Passover, eoster, pasch, solstice.... hey!
Its spring.
Wonderful world.
Sentience is amazing.
. . . . but, lot of problems too. . . .
things need doing.
the code, its in the
what are we gonna do about it
together.
PS . . . . back in the alleged "dark ages", a "multi-faith" attitude is clear from a sort of Angles (....as in "anglo-saxon, but the saxons hadnt arrived yet) "box of covenants" that has biblical scenes carved into its surfaces alongside scenes from good metaphor-tales of the spiritual traditions that existed in Briton already. . . . more details in comments, later.
google " indymedia""world books day" for more about columba, bards + chritians etc!,
pps .... i love the fact that around most cathedrals the gargoyles - perhaps old "spirits of community" stay on guard, making those "maori" haka faces....
all together.... wow
FOR MORE ABOUT THE DVCODE GOOGLE INDYMEDIA + "I HAVE TO GET TO A LIBRARY - FAST!" - it sounds a bit of a "rant" - but its a wonderful rant - even more amazing - it checks out for the latest archeological/ historical accuracy!
I might add some references to its comments -
