Smash EDO has been made aware, this morning, of pictures being circulated by the Brighton and Hove Conservative Party of anti-Semitic graffiti in an evicted squat in Brighton close to a banner supporting our campaign. We are not aware of the provenance of these pictures. However, in light of this the campaign would like to clarify:
- That Smash EDO is an anti-fascist and anti-racist campaign
- That the campaign is aware of the racism endured by people of Jewish origin
- That all racism, including anti-Semitism, will be confronted wherever it arises in our movements
- That racists are not welcome in our campaign

Robert Nemeth – Tory scumbag Mike Weatherley's right-hand man – is now attempting to use these two, at best tangentially linked, facts to say that squatters and Smash EDO are anti-Semitic!? Seriously, what a fucking prick that guy is.
It's a complete non-story, and maybe would have been better just to ignore it.

Your excuse is convenient.
A bit like a white fascist saying that someone writing the n word on a door is a non story and that we should just ignore it. This is wrong and should be stopped.
1) In your opinion. Whatever
2) Not very nice to jews... but obviously you dont give a shit about that
3) attempted whitewash in the face of photographic evidence
4) Your discounting it without a moments glance obvious and futhermore telling other people what to think and what they should do in regard to it indicates you are biased in your opinions of jews

the fact that someone painted the word "jew" on a door in a building which later was squatted and at some point after that held a smash edo benefit is not an example of racism against jews from smash edo. there are plenty of real examples of that in the world, we don't need to scrape the barrel like this to find examples.
i would say that the argus is in fact being racist against jews by using us and our suffering in this way, to attack a group of people who work hard to promote peace in this world. it is insulting to jews to be used in this way. it belittles the real suffering we have experienced and continue to experience at the hands of real racists and fascists.
if this is the best that your opponents can come up, smash edo, i would say you have little to worry about. keep doing what you are doing, and hold your heads up high.

"In your opinion. Whatever" - I'm not saying it's best to ignore antisemitism, just spurious politically motivated allegations with no basis in reality.
“Not very nice to jews... but obviously you dont give a shit about that” - I don't agree with attacking any group on religious or ethnic grounds, but that's not what this is about.
“attempted whitewash in the face of photographic evidence” - I didn't doubt the existence of the banner or the graffiti, just I know for a fact the two aren't linked I cracked the squat and the graf was already there (I'm not expecting people to take the word of an anonymous stranger, but regardless of that there certainly isn't any reason to believe the two are linked other than your and Robert Nemeth's prejudice towards Smash EDO)
“Your discounting it without a moments glance obvious and futhermore telling other people what to think and what they should do in regard to it indicates you are biased in your opinions of jews” - er, no see above. Though presumably if me saying it should be ignored proves I hate Jews, Smash EDO highlighting the case and issuing a statement condemning prejudice proves the opposite?
In hindsight we (the people who squatted the building) should have painted over the graffiti, but that's not the fault of Smash EDO.
