The WildKatz, a squatcore, anarcho-folk collective will be playing a benefit in aid of the migrants populous of Calais. Currently a large number of Afghan, Iraqi, African and other migrants are living in appalling conditions in squats and "jungles" in Calais and the surrounding region. They are routinely attacked by French riot police (CRS) under orders from the UK Borders Agencey (UKBA) and are often evicted or have tents and blankets seized. Most migrants spend their time waiting for the next raid in silence and isolation, breaking this monotony is one of the strongest forms of solidarity we can offer.
To this end The WildKatz Collective, a group of anarchist squaters and musicians are staging a number of gigs in and around Brighton, beginning today (Saturday 24th) at the Cobblers Thumb. Entrance is free, but any money donated will be put towards funding instruments, shelter, food, entertainment and other practical support for those unlucky enough to be trapped in Calais with no safe place to go.
