Speciesism is the assigning of different values or rights to beings on the basis of their species membership, therefore making non-human animals available to consume, wear and exploit. We understand that speciesism is a form of bigotry, utilized by humans, similar to racism, or sexism.

Antispeciesist Action is a collective of militant antispeciesists and animal rights activists committed to confronting animal abuse, suffering and exploitation of non-human beings through the use of direct action.

We believe in the 'No Compromise' philosophy, veganism and actively support the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) and animal rights prisoners.

We are opposed to capitalism and the state, understanding that without both entities, the universal exploitation of animals would not be possible.

Diversity is strength

27.04.2008 17:43

Diversity has always been what the SHAC campaign and other grassroots AR groups have been about. Every action from leafletting to non violent direct action has its place in the ultimate goal of achieving social change.

All power to the anti speciesists along with everyone who stands up and protests in whatever way they can against animal abuse.

Without meaning to sound rude, I'm not being sarcastic here:
Are you only aiming to advertise your website, or did you actually perform any serious direct action on the day (taking barricades apart is not something I would consider to really be direct action, it's just getting a bit rowdy)? If so, what? Obviously if you're not comfortable saying it on the internet, then forgive me for asking!
You might want to explain what exactly you mean by 'the no compromise philosophy' as well.
All power to people who are working towards saving lives and preventing suffering, though! You have my respect.

Reasons

27.04.2008 19:10

It's not to support the website, but the ideology/movement, which is far more popular in countries like Germany. We realise that once the animal rights movement succeeds, there will be to be the need to defend it. For example "Civil Rights Front" or "Pro-Multiculturalism Action" would be odd terms/banners to use at the moment, whereas Antifa seems more appropriate.

As we begin to win animal liberation - there is the need to start calling ourselves "Antis", just like the hunt sabs are doing.

In regards to the "No Compromise" ideology, any activist only needs to go to google it and click "I'm feeling lucky".

Of course everyones opinion is different as to why to support this, this is just mine.

Was entirely for  http://directaction.info. See the pictures of the banner...

We promote antispeciesism & animal liberation, not ourselves!!

I take it when the animal rights movement "succeeds"...

...all non-vegan forms of food are to be banned, and offenders liable to face harsh punishments.

In which case, consider me...

Animal NHS

28.04.2008 11:19

Switzerland just introduced stronger animals rights laws. Do you welcome that legislation as animal rights activists or condemn it as anarchists ? What do you think of Jasmijn de Boo, formerly of the Dutch 'Party for the Animals', and her attempt to get elected to the London Assembly as an 'Animals Count' candidate ? Would you vote for an animal NHS ?

To Possum

Possum, you seem to be under the misapprehension that all animal rights people think the same thing. Typical of those spoonfed by the media into believeing their is such a thing as a group with a single voice.

All AR people are different. They have different views on a variety of subjects many but not all may be anarchists but most balance teir political beliefs with pragmatism. Just like the anarchist squads in the warsaw ghetto the most important thing insn't their politics but their aim. And their aim is the one thing they all agree on. The strong should not be allowed to prey on the weak.

I feel by asking your questions you are trying to fight a straw man that exists only in your head.

Just one opinion

Ahhh, bless the kiddies playing dressing up. It's usually bumpkins that refer to sabs as "antis," sabs usually call themselves, urm..., sabs.

Maybe if you tried to collect questionaires from the next bloc? Good luck with getting your answers. The only answer would be to study antispeciesism and green anarchism. The idea isn't that somebody leads the way, the movement leads itself.

its bumpkins that refere to sabs as antis..?

Latest hunt sab sticker
Latest hunt sab sticker

that's weird, they actually sell/give out these stickers...sabs must be bumpkins!

Do you HONESTLY think "pro-multiricultural front" sounds like an appropriate name for a movement that has already been accepted.
