CLASS WAR ARE ASKING PEOPLE TO ‘BOO A BOBBY’ - GATHERING POINT MARSHAM STREET AT 12 NOON OPPOSITE THE HOME OFFICE.
Heres a piece lifted from the Class War website:
Plans are now well under way for hearty opposition to the police march through London next Wednesday.
The police march will run from Park Lane to Millbank. They are assembling at 10:30, moving off at 11:30, and expect to finish at 15:00. Given the problem with alcohol in many police forces, it is however likely that officers will be leaving the march for pubs from about 12:00. Keep checking back for suggestions on where to position yourself to best “Boo-A-Bobby”!
The public perception of the police is utterly different to that portrayed by the media, politicians and indeed the police themselves. Whilst we are constantly told the public “wants to see bobbies on the beat” most people’s experience of the police is one of an organisation that is arrogant, self-serving, expensive and, when it wants to be, above the law.
To have such an organisation demanding more pay - given the resources thrown at it over the past three decades - is cheeky beyond belief. Lets say so! The police have been in the front line of preventing other workers from obtaining pay increases, indeed they have often acted decisively to defeat workers in struggle. They may have forgotten Orgreave and Wapping, we have not.
Already the Evening Standard has weighed in with an exciteable piece about the 23rd. Always carefully briefed by Scotland Yard, the Standard no doubt hopes that by hyping up the ‘threat’ of violence now, the way will be clear for police officers to make preparatory arrests, and even attack those who do not wish to cheer the police through London. Such articles also serve as a crafty way of influencing public opinion at an early stage - a police attack on any counter demonstration is justified by media hype, based on press briefings from …….. the Police!
Should police officers be unable to act in a neutral manner on the day, and try to prevent any display of public opposition to their colleagues, please note that those opposed to the brass neck of the cops have a range of alternative options open to them. This might include blockading donut shops to prevent the greedy pigs snacking on their march, or pointing out to pub landlords known troublemakers about to enter their premises. Pagans can of course greet the march with a special Wicker Man, and we all know what burns best in one of those! And who could resist the opportunity to wave goodbye to departing coaches of pissed-up officers leaving London?
There is alas no honour amongst thieves. Can we really expect the Christian Police Association to march arm in arm with their colleagues from the Gay Police Association? Although rumours that the Met Police’s newly formed Muslim Officers Association will not march with the Jewish Police Association have been played down, will it all be peace and harmony on the day? Indeed if the Police Federation does not deliver on this one, how long until we see a “Real Police Federation” group emerging?
