Cells of Rage. (Basingstoke)

B. Group | 27.05.2012 22:33 | Workers' Movements | Oxford

Sunday 26th of May in Basingstoke.

Cells of Rage.

On the night of Sunday 26th of May in Basingstoke several comrades moved through the main street of the town and redecorated the banal facades of many of the dumb shops.

Red paint was splashed over the slick alienating displays of McDonald’s, Barclays and Lloyds TSB banks, the Coral betting shop – a parasitical perpetuator of fantasy and dreams of wealth had its window shattered with a center hole punch.
The same treatment was handed out to the Entertainer Toy Shop for re-selling the dreams and joy of our children back to them (us) as dead commodities.

We act with love in our hearts and anger in our eyes.
We are tired of the misplaced faith of the civil ‘anarchists’.
Solidarity with Eat and Billy.
We desire the wild sky. — Bonanno group.

Poe's Law

Poe's Law states:

"Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing."

New Forms of Revolt

28.05.2012 09:04

The Basingstoke action shows that at last, we are starting to see the new forms of revolt on the streets.

What's needed is not mobilization, and even far less passivity, but a putting-into-practice of singular insurrection, a rejection in all forms of the teleology of fossilization of our desires.

Solidarity to Basingstoke

In solidarity with the Cells of Rage, I refrained from using my bank card today and spat on the ground near to the cash point. I did this with a passion that cannot be contained.

Why a toy shop? If it's solely because it engages in capitalism what's next, charity shops?

I don't agree with charity or capitalism but fail to see how attacking a toy shop helps 'the cause'.

Oliver Irwell

hm.. i agree

28.05.2012 14:50

I agree- really, toy shop seems to be bit random. I am watching recent spate of attacks in UK and whilst some of them strike at good targets, some seems to be just really random. Certain communiques seem to be bit pompous in their tone as well, calling paintbombing of some building a "crippling blow" against state and capitalism. Seriously guys... better selection of targets or otherwise people will just see you as nihilistic nutters trashing everything around with no apparent sense. I am absolutely not against this type of attacks as such, but targets more often that not seem to be pointless recently.

can anyone verify these 'actions' with evidence, photos?

28.05.2012 19:33

Because they seem a cop action to me.

Daily telegraph is reporting them.

Saw this post this morning and just the title alone gives it away as a piss-take. Spot on Poe. It might be funny, doesn't mean it isn't aiding the cops though. I'm surprised to see this post still up on the newswire.

it's all good, troll or not

29.05.2012 18:28

Whether this is some obscure trolling or genuine, it's still good to read about these kind of things. It shakes things up and makes us question the comfortable values of mainstream society.

As for kids being sold commodities, well, it is true, even if kids themselves aren't aware of it. Years ago we could be happy playing with cardboard boxes and footballs, now it's all overpriced gadgets and marketing spin-offs for films and TV programs. It is a little creepy the way these things are targeted at kids.

I don't really blame the people running the shops, they just try to get by and make a living. But in the bigger picture it is good to destroy the complacency.

It's only red paint and broken windows, after all, not red blood and broken children - that is the province of the state.

Except of course, all the violent criminals in prison who have raped, robbed, beaten and murdered people. Thankfully, the state tracked them down, apprehended them, and keeps them locked up so they cant do the public any harm.
