If you want to shop at Tesco..... shop at tesco. If you dont.... then dont.

If Tesco want to sell stuff...... then sell stuff. If they dont..... then dont.

You see the pattern? People have choice and can do what they want. Nobody is forcing you to go to Tesco. And nobody is forcing Tesco to sell stuff.

Your gripe seems to be that they didn't like you taking pictures in their building?
We guess what, im sure if a complete stranger took pictures in your house you wouldn't be too happy either?

I read the lyrics as being less of a gripe against Tesco (although there is an element of that). It seemed to me to be a more positive message of how, in Neil's experience, what Tesco say that offer (friendless, short queues, low prices) are on offer in local shops on Cowley Road to a greater extent then they are in Tesco.

Not sure what this statement is for? It's very laissez-faire (in that it assumes that if people want to consume things, than that's all that matters), however many people and organisations have pretty serious concerns about how Tesco operate. Is it OK to use a supplier regardless of how they operate, leading to a moral position of it's OK for any supplier to do anything as long as someone buys their goods? In my view, that's an amoral position - and I think morals are important.

Comparing a shop to somebody's house is a non sequitur. If somebody came into my house, took some stuff from my fridge, and asked me how much that cost, I wouldn't be too happy. If somebody did the same in a supermarket, the supermarket would be happy.

Obviously Neil's experience differs from mine, but my local Tesco is pretty darn friendly.
Theres ample FREE parking, the staff are all friendly, the queues are very short and they typically have everything i need in terms of groceries and more on one roof out of the rain.
Obviously it isn't 100% like that - but for the most part it is.

Don't get me wrong, there are consistent faults, but what in the world is perfect? I go to the several local butchers for meat because it is of much better quality etc. However, i have to pay 50p for parking to the council and it is an effort to find some, i have to walk between shops in the rain, and the queues are often slower and longer, and they often run out of things. I also find the vegetable's quality is much more hit and miss.

Fair play to Neil, but I don't have a Cowley Road equivalent.

I understand the viewpoint, however, if something is wrong then it should be written in the law. If tesco followed a different set of rules to everyone else then they wouldn't be able to compete. Therefore, any moral rules etc should be law so that everyone follows them.
Again, if the moral aspects are an issue for the consumer, then they can shop elsewhere.
I do this all the time.

Not really. A supermarket opens its doors on the understanding that people will pick up things off the shelf and buy them. It doesn't not open its door on the understanding that people will take pictures and write nasty things on the internet.

People do not open their house to either buying or photographs. If a house opened itself up to sell products, then people would come in and the house owner wouldn't complain.

Tesco doesn't want photographers - that is their choice. Just because they open their doors to buyers, doesn't mean they have also opened their doors to photographers.
Tesco has the right to open the door to one, and not the other. It does not have to open door to either both or neither - basically, the law states they can choose.
