*Cowley 'Road' Carnival* in South Park (?!): we will be at the bottom entrance, opposite Union Street, at 1pm - come and see us to pick up a t-shirt if you haven't already, and join us as we go round the carnival collecting signatures and spreading truth!
*Weekly Campaign Meeting* : important this week, as there are three (3) council meetings coming up. They are all at inconvenient times, as usual, but if you can't be there you can participate by sending in questions - see if we can beat the 126 that got sent to the last CEB! Find out what you can do (and pick up a t-shirt) Sunday 7-8pm Indian Room/Exeter Hall, Marsh Road., 11am to 7pm, this Sunday 3 July, which will take place in South Park instead of the Cowley Road effectively denying access to most wheelchair users. Thanks to Ox City Council for this.
And coming soon (be at our Campaign meeting tomorrow evening for more information):
*Full Council* on Monday 11 July 5pm at the Town Hall. This is the one where you can actually ask your questions about the poor replies we were given at the last CEB meeting (22 June) where a record 126 questions were submitted!
Please get in touch with us now to let us know if you are considering coming along.
*Cowley Area Forum* on Thursday 14 July 6pm at John Bunyan Baptist Church, Crowell Road. Come along and tell what YOU think and what YOU want. Be there at 6pm to talk to the councillors and council officers. Talk to us first if you want to know what happened at East Area Forum last week.
*City Executive Board* on Thursday 21st July 5pm, Town Hall. A specially arranged meeting ahead of the summer so the council can vote through going ahead with building the proposed new pool at Blackbird Leys. This will cost £16m of our money, and they are rushing ahead with it in spite of all the opposition and no business case because (a) it will mean a Labour photo-opportunity with Andrew Smith ahead of the Olympics next year (remember it's not bigger than TCP, only 25 metres, NOT Olympic-size!) and (b) Fusion, the leisure operators, get more profit faster - closing two
facilities and getting rid of more than 20 staff cheaply means much more profit for them, not public good for the rest of us!
As usual, thanks everyone for your support, and we look forward to you contributing to at least one event this July - together, we can make a difference!
Thanks
