The planning application is for 'Project Hydrus' - a new experimental nuclear facility that will cost hundreds of millions of pounds from the taxpayer whilst other much needed services are being cut. The facility will be used to design new nuclear weapons that will be built at Aldermaston at a time when the global prospects for disarmament are looking bright then they have done for over a decade.
The planning committee will take place on Wednesday 29 September starting at 18.30 at the Calcot Centre, High View, Calcot, Reading RG31 4XD. Join us at 17.30 to lobby the committee members as they go into the meeting, and the attend to observe the meeting itself. Please bring banners with 'no Trident' and 'no cuts' messages.
If you are travelling by public transport you can take the Reading Bus service 26 leaving at 17.09 from Reading train station (bus stop no. 26) to Royal Avenue, from where it is a short walk to the Calcot Centre.
If you haven't already, please send objections to the planning application to the Council. Any objections will be accepted by the Council up until the day before the meeting and can be submitted by email to planapps@westberks.gov.uk quoting application ref. 10/01695/COMIND.
Hope to see you on Wednesday.
