The abductors of the italian reporter propose to release him if an Afghan man that converted himself to Christianity is returned to Afghanistan
The abductors of the italian journalist Gabriele Torsello have made their request: they will free the reporter only in exchange for Abdul Rahman, an Afghan citizen who converted himself to Christianity and left Afghanistan for Italy, where he obtained political asylum. The kidnappers have been contacted Monday afternoon at around 8,30 pm, Afghan time, by Rakhmatullah Hanefi, the security advisor of Emergency hospital in Lashkar-Gah, to whom they addressed their request. In Afghanistan, the apostate would face the death penalty. The abducters also set an ultimatum for the exchange: the negotiation must be concluded within the end of the Ramadan, that is next Sunday. The last phone call between Torsello and Rakhmatullah, took place last night at 9,30 pm Afghan time. Gabriele Torsello reassured on his health conditions. "I am fine - he said - we have moved". Torsello's kidnappers promised a new contact
