CORPORATE WATCH IS LOOKING FOR A NEWS EDITOR.
We are a radical, independent research group run as a workers' co-operative and based in Oxford, England. We expose and analyse the ways in which corporations operate, and investigate the effects they have on society and the environment. As part of the world-wide anti-corporate movement, we contribute in the form of published in-depth reports, speakers, stalls, regular news stories and a newsletter. Our web stats are soaring, and our work is used by everyone from farmers and protest groups to mainstream journalists and academics.
If you would like to become Corporate Watch's next news editor we would like you to have:
Journalistic experience: Primary and secondary research, interviewing, subbing, proofreading.
A good, clear writing style
Experience of working in a busy office
An analysis of the corporate media
Experience of grass-roots campaigning/direct action
And we would like you to be happy to:
Take on extra roles – such as speaking, running stalls etc
Take turns cooking vegan lunches
Muck in with the cleaning
Live in Oxford
You would be responsible for: producing news reports for the website (approximately five stories every two weeks); producing and mailing out a bi-monthly newsletter; maintaining and emailing our database of subscribers; participating in co-op decisions; and general admin. In return we offer a basic salary (currently £9,300 pa) for a thirty hour week, and a supportive, exciting environment in which to develop.
