Respiratory Arrest
26.06.2004 14:09
It seems Robin was asthmatic, and stopped breathing at the scene of the arrest; he was dead on arrival at JR.
Hey - how come ordinary people who get arrested have their names released to the press, along with details of why they were arrested; but not policemen? Four police have been arrested, and are still suspended; but we don't know who they are, nor what charge they were arrested on. There doesn't seem to be any information available about what offence might have been committed. I can't find out anything about the cause of the delay at the CPS.
Inquisitive
Vigil for Robin
27.06.2004 08:47
I was at the Vigil for Robin Goodenough. The Goodenough Family including
Robin's five month baby son and his girl friend assembled with his mother
Glennis, his granny and other relatives who were joined by a number of local
people including Green Councillors. The family and friends had brought
bunches of flowers and a special DADDY floral display which were placed on
the ground by the spot in Alma Place where Robin died. Candles were handed
round and some were lit despite the strong wind. The little children were
persistent in their efforts to keep these alight and placed them near the
flowers. A short service was led by the local Vicar, Bruce Gillingham, with
great dignity and sympathy followed by the playing of some of Robins
favourite tunes. The grief of the family at the needless loss of this young
father was very moving. Hopefully justice will be done in relation to this.
We are waiting to hear what the CPS will decide in the light of the evidence
collected from the neighbours who witnessed the sad events which lead to
this shocking death at the hands of local police officers.
