release of two rhesus macaque monkeys, held in confinement for 15 years, and
experimented on, by Oxford University.
brains ten years ago when they were 5 years old.the experiments held at Oxford
university, according to research data was exploring reaction to "visual data"
The two monkeys have been given artificially produced brain damage by scientists
trying to mimic human brain damage. We are calling for the results of these tests to
be made and discussed publically. We also call for the release of these animals to
live out what is left of their lives in a place where they can be loved and looked
after.

End all oppression

I am an activist for animal liberation and for a free Palestine. I don't know why you feel the need to attack those campaigning for something different than you. You claim I am a white supremesist simply becuase I campaign for animal rights? Do environmentalists, trade unionists, and others come into this category aswell?
If we are really to make comparisons, an animal dies every six seconds in laboratories and the kind of torture they are subjected to goes way beyond anything I have read accounts of going on in the prisons of the Middle East.

Ritchie - absolutely, there's nothing incompatible about opposing torture and opression of our species and opposing the same abuses of other species. Making time to do both is being a 'multi-disciplinary activist' :-)
But it's really unhelpful to play abuse one-upmanship. It's not about numbers or details, it's about taking a moral position about what is or is not acceptable.
And people tempted to post about medical advances etc. That's exactly what I mean - your morality is different from other peoples. No amount of debate here will bring people to an accomodation. Some people accept animal experiments and some don't.
Some people are ok about experiments on humans too - current stuff about North Korean weapons experiments, older stuff about secret US de-patterning experiments, a bit further back Hitler's people doing some experiments on humans. Probably most people on these boards will find all those last examples abhorent. There's stuff out there on the net about all of them.

care about. i also feel it very strange that you bring into question the colour
of my skin? i am only calling for something i feel strongly about with a number
of other people. i also have strong views about other issues which are closer
to your ideas than you know, yet i dont take the morral high ground and criticise
others without knowing as many of the facts as i can. good luck with your own
campaigning. r.davies

1) You need at least 20 (40 would be great) people for solidarity and a good party. Make sure everyone knows well in advance to be ready. Wait for a fine spell in the weather and go for it a few days later.
2) Musical instruments and banners so that people can see why your doing it while you have a good sit down and chat/play. Bring food and drink too. Be ready for a couple of hours of chill time.
3) Before hand let the emergency services know what you are going to do so they can divert thier traffic.
4) Also let the press know before hand.
5) Don't do 5pm rush hour! People will get very upset when trying to get home.
6) High noon is a good time any day.
7) If you want to be really on the case get some legal study students to act as wittnesses in case of any Police brutality.
8) When the cops come be very polite and explain that you cannot move on priciple.
9) When they pick you up DO NOT RESIST you have made your point. Some of you may wish to attach yourselves.
10) Have people giving flyers to the drivers and passers by who will be curious about the hold up.

SPEAK DEMO 24/7/04 HUGE SUCCESS
25.07.2004 10:38
I, as an AR campaigner, would rather be going on a peaceful demo like yesterday, which can I say was excellent due to the amount of passionate people all pulling together and getting the message across about the Oxford Labs and the amount of animal torture that will go ahead there if the builders come back.
As for the Oxford two they will be rehomed at a animal sanctuary where they will live
for the rest of their lives. They will never be pets and staying where they are is not an option considering after 15 years of experimentation I would say this poor monkeys have had enough.
So if you want to sit back on your arse and just rant then go ahead but it doesnt help the cause and nothing ever changes.
