SkillShare; Green Festival; Survival Tales; Vegan Free Food Giveaway and much more!
Sumac Skill Share workshops are run for free by volunteers from our community. Our aim is to build the confidence and skills of people in our community by sharing the skills we already have. This week and next the focus is on Health:
We all fall prey to sickness, whether that be a common cold or something more serious. But do we really need to be so reliant on the National Health Service and the medical industry, which aim for quick fixes and quick profits, and are intrinsically tied up with the various causes for the illnesses that may come our way. What other options are there? What other options have people being used for centuries? How can we produce and share new models for maintaining our physical and mental health? What importance does our mental health and social situation play in our physical well being? What affect does child care have on the health of the child as they become an adult? As individuals we may have our own answers to these questions, but if we combine our knowledges and resources what can develop from that?
The sessions run from 11am - 5pm. A creche will be provided, please let us know by email how many kids you are bringing.

Sunday's Green Festival at the Arboretum is perhaps one of the most valuable outreach opportunities in Nottingham, attended as it is by several '000 green minded people, including over 100 groups.
As well as catering near the bandstand, Veggies provides marquee space for many related groups, as well as a Sumac book stall and info on the Forest Fields Gardening Club, People's Kitchen, Indymedia etc. We will also be promoting the Vegan Beer Fesival, just 2 weeks later.
Squirrels Nest, Shut Down Heckler & Koch, Defy ID, Brinsley Animal Rescue, Nottingham Animal Rights, Refugee Forum, FoE, CND, Pedals, EcoWorks, Sprout and many other related groups will have stalls too, so we are all going to be spread thin. On top of that some key people are at the Radical Routes Gathering.
Someone might like to count up how many people are needed to do all that. My rough estimate is Everybody!
On top of that there is an After-Party at Sumac the same evening with Moonbuggy (live), dub dj Earthpipe and the Subdub/Exodus Leeds Sweetpotato Soundsystem .
