there wasn't 700, thats just bullshit,..200, lets not do there pr work for them...the uaf in the main stayed kettled, policed and ineffective asides from a small few i saw later on actually following like independent antifa roaming and harassing non-kettled edl groups

here's what we have learned (plus some we already knew) for future anti-fa actions in notts:

1 - the ring leaders photos and footage is now captured...not long til we see them and find them...if anyone has photos of EDL, please publish them ASAP.
2 - EDL are likely to be completely banned from marching in the future, which will make them easier targets. i never supported banning their march, because its not good for everyone when that shit starts happening, but it will mean that they could be static in future, on section 60's, which will be easier to attack.
3 - The EDL have proved they want a fight, so ANY EDL ARE NOW LEGITIMATE TARGETS, EVEN THE YOUNGER LADS WHO WE'VE PHOTOGRAPHED, PLUS ALL PUBS AND ESTABLISHMENTS THAT HOUSED THEM...
4 - EDL are undeniably rascist and fascist, so this info must be passed around, the evidence against them pushed to the surface, not just kept to sites like this. if you have footage of 'sieg hiel's", then get it to any press at all, let the people see the truth....publish posters and flyers with their faces on....make then aware that we are onto them. WE MUST START THE PROPAGANDA WAR AS WELL............Propaganda will help us at this stage. having their faces published will anger and shame them and help us to target them more effectively. the attack on my comrades yesterday is an attack on me and every anti-fa everywhere. retaliation is a must.

Now is the time to start finding out which coach companies are supplying buses for EDL, like wise the printers who do their posters and t-shirts.......ANYTHING ABOUT THEM WILL HELP. if you find out, publish it, so others can act on the info...........

The EDL are claiming over 1000 for their demo - this is nonsense. 400 would be an absolute upper limit for their numbers in Nottingham. Mind you, they were so pissed by the end of the day that they probably couldn't count their own fingers!

200 was there, and no more. they are idiots, i saw asian youths battering some of them at night, after the crowds left.

No need to caricature 'asian youth'! - by the afternoon all sorts of people were out in the square and around opposing the EDL whereever they appeared. Black, 'asian', white. All were there. St James Street where the 'Up and under bar' holed up the EDL for a while (door protected by police lines after an earlier scrap) got some further attention. Later smallish groups of leery EDL were moving around town after a days drinking and shouting and were made unwelcome whereever they went. Hopefully they'll have got the message that they were unwanted in Nottingham and think twice about coming back or doing the same elsewhere. At least it wasn't a normal xmas shopping day like the council and police wanted. No way could it be normal with those idiots and fascists staying around causing trouble, some throwing punches, but most wandering around like sheep shouting 'In-ger-land, In-get-land' like they'd just lost the world cup again. Good riddance EDL.

Yet again people are on here going on about how the left will smash the edl. c18, bnp etc.How we will target the pubs they drink in , blah blah blah. I was involved in thois type stuff in the 80s and 90s but all i hear now is talk.
How many years have people being saying they will smash the BNP, it hasnt happened.Proper physical resistance to the BNP stopped years ago, except for the odd brave outbreak by local antifa in a couple areas. Putting up rubbish like this we will do this, do that and doing nothing just makes us look stupid. We cant smash the BNP , which is not a street movement anymore what chance do we stand with the EDL.
Static demos are an easier place to attack them than marches? you obviously know fuck all about tactics. IN A STATIC DEMO THEY WILL BE RINGED BY AT LEAST TWO LINES OF POLICE WITH OTHERS BEHIND/AROUND AND WAITING NEARBY AS SUPPORT. ON A MARCH THINGS BECOME STRUNG OUT BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE WALKING, WITHOUT GOOD STEWARDING IT IS HARD TO KEEP THEM TOGETHER.THE POLICE LINES THEN BECOME THINNER AS THEY EXTEND TO COVER A LONG MARCH NOT A SMALL STATIC DEMO.AS THERE LINES GET THINNER THEY HAVE TO CALL IN REINFORCEMENTS.THUS LEAVING ANTIS FREER TO MOVE AROUND THE AREA TO LOOK FOR THE GAPS IN POLICE LINES TO ATTACK. A LONG DRAWN OUT MARCH CAN BE ATTACKED IF ORGANISED PROPERLY AT THE SAME TIME IN SEVERAL PLACES THUS PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE DEFENDERS.WHERE AS A STATIC DEMO IS SOLID WITH NO GAPS.EVEN IN ROMAN TIMES , THEY KNEW TO ATTACK A LONG DRAWN OUT LINE AND DEFEND IN A COMPACT MASS.
Attacking them does what? make them look like thugs or us.Attacking weatherspoons does what? though i wouldnt drink in one of those soul less money machines anyway.Pisses off locals that see their cheap night out pub attacked not by nazis but by reds? hmm who they going to sympathise with? It is obvious to anyone with a brain that weatherspoons that are being used all over for the EDL demo meet points, so it is the cops that are arranging the pubs not the EDL.
We need to start being honest here as well about EDL numbers, everyone knows what went on in NOTTS.It wasnt 200 or 400 of them,The numbers were far higher. We lie we arent independent anymore. If we tell blatant lies that ordinary people can see are wrong from their tv, newspapers etc we are no better than those medias and no better than the people we seek to counter

From videos linked to above it really seemed to be about even numbers wise mid-afternoon, it's just the opposition to EDL was not all in one place at the same time, just the same as not all of EDL were on their march and rally. The UAF in market sq early in day was pitifully small until trebled by the Notts Stop the BNP contingent. Smaller groups of autonomous antifascists/anarchists confronted (and were confronted by) EDL in town.

What is needed is a more generalised opposition to the extreme patriotism that makes EDL the threat it is (and so attractive to fascists if not initiated by fascists in the firsrt place), focussing not only on the few hundred in Nottingham yesterday, but challenging their idea that somehow the biggest threat to their England is an islamic extremist bogeyman - which they seem to believe is growing when it probably isn't, not even in the non-white areas of towns they are so scared of. Those of them who are not out and out fascists just seem to fear that non-white people will take over 'their' country.

This takes us to the political and economic situation we are living in right now - dominated by war and class conflict. We should perhaps be more worried that 10,000 people were reportedly out supporting troops returning from Afghanistan without questioning why the ruling class of Britain/England to decided to take us in to these conflicts in the first place, or to question the historical context to these wars.

Or to ask why after so many generations of their family's emigration to Britain, much of this stemming from emigration from countries of the old British empire, that afro-caribbean and 'asian' (or african or chinese) people in England on average still have the worse jobs, housing, health and living conditions? While at the same that it is still so easy for fascists to whip up stupid scare stories in working class areas of our cities about non-white inhabitants of these islands taking something that white Britons should supposedly have by right, when the real inequality is a class one. Or that someone having friends or relationships with someone of a 'different' colour or family background is a cause for concern. But patriots and nationalists (knowingly or blindly) refuse to accept that we live on an island which has experienced and owes it's existance immigration and emigration (whether by settlement or invasion) back as far as you can go, before the idea of England ever existed. The idea of Britain or England only suits ruling class privilege - which is the status quo - a ruling class that has sent thousands of working class people to their deaths in wars, and by their laws continue to make many people suffer and die from lack of proper food, housing and healthcare and are currently engaged in the biggest attack on welfare since the Conservatives brought in the Job Seeker Allowance instead of a right to unemployement benefit.

EDL is a mix of fascism, patriotism and old-fashioned racial prejudice which must all be addressed.
