A brand new day of skillsharing has been announced!
The Sumac Skillshare presents a day 21st Century Human Skills Saturday 7th November at the Sumac Centre, 245 Gladstone St
All workshops are free but donations towards the projects gratefully accepted. No need to book - just turn up!
A chance to talk about alternative parenting. Idea and skill-sharing on subjects such as home births, home education and real nappies, as well as tackling the question of finding a balance between continuum style parenting and a routine. Babies and children welcome – there will be a small crèche available in the same room.
10.30 – 12pm: Beginners guide to growing your own herbs
An introduction to propagating, looking after and harvesting your own herbs, focusing on culinary herbs.
12.30 – 1.30pm Delicious nutritious lunch for donations
1.30 – 4.30pm: Navigation training
Introduction to basic navigation using a map and compass, finishing with a real life exercise in local countryside. Bring a compass if you have one.
Small donations towards transport costs may be required.
1.30 – 3pm: Ducking and Diving against the State
A discussion for activists or people interested interested in activism covering a wide range of topics, on how to avoid getting noticed by the State in the first place, to covering your tracks, and then on to what to do if you end up coming to their attention. Will also cover defending yourself in court.
3.15 – 4.45: Blending plant oils for body and household
With a focus on five of the most useful plant oils produced in the UK, we will discuss how to safely use essential oils to nourish and cleanse ourselves,for applications including Relaxation, First Aid & Trauma, Grooming, and Laundry.
5pm – 6pm: Punk Rock Aerobics
Putting the cramp back into The Cramps and the fit back into the Misfits!
Bring trainers and comfortable clothes for punk fitness!
