One Nottingham

14.03.2009 12:58

Whilst I'm really happy that the Sumac is putting on another excellent skillhare I'm disappointed that the Centre has teamed up with One Nottingham. This is the organisation led by Graham Allen (Labour MP) and indlcudes members of such bastions of freedom as the Crime and Drugs Parternship, Nottingham City Council, the Probation Service, the Crown Prosecution Service, Nottingham University, Nottinghamshire Police and the Job Centre on its Executive Sub Committee. its priorities include "Developing local leadership for example building towards a Neighbourhood Watch in every area of Nottingham." They are involved in the promotion of Respect for Nottingham, the scheme which boasts about having removed the majority of beggars from Nottingham city centre, introducing Neighbourhood policing in many areas and introducing CCTV on trams and buses ( http://www.onenottingham.org.uk/).
They are the Labour party's attempt to infiltrate our communities and I would have expected the Sumac Centre to have had more sense than to get involved with them.

funny thing is ...

14.03.2009 23:33

Funny thing is most of the talks in this 'lo-tech' are actually about using technology in a useful and progressive way. It may be calld lo-tech but the content will actually cover hi-tech.

Well done for putting this on, it sounds like it will be a good event.
