New Vegan takeout/catering service in Nottinghamshire

Helen | 11.03.2009 02:00 | Animal Liberation | Ecology

Nottinghamshire now has one more place to get wonderful vegan, good value food!

On Monday two members of Nottingham Animal Rights, publishers of the vegan guide to Nottingham, went on a bike ride to check out this new venture..

'Fat City' has only been up and running for a few weeks, and is located in a wood-insulated caravan on Trinity Farm, Asworth Lane, Cossall, Notts (NG16 2PZ).

it is 100% Vegan and uses produce from the farm which are organic and often bio-dynamic! They have a growing menu of main meals for around £3, soup, cakes, coffee etc.. and also cater for events and deliver lunches to the surrounding area.

Although we made the mistake to visit when they had a power failure and were closed (opening times are Tues-Sat 9-2pm), they made us feel very welcomed and cooked us up a lovely pasta with roasted vegetables, and apple tarts!

Although they currently have no seating area, they are looking at getting some picnic tables out on the farm, a bbq in the summer and possibly a sheltered seating area.

Its definately worth a visit, we're really happy to see new places like this crop up so go out and support them!

Oh my god!

Thanks for this, sounds amazing!!! Is there a route you recommend for cycling from Lenton/Radford area?

Adjustment to the postcode..

12.03.2009 17:58

Its been pointed out that by putting the postcode as NG16 2RZ (instead of 2PZ), google/multi map shows a far more accurate position on Asworth Lane. It is actually a few hundred yards towards Asworth from the pointer at  http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=NG16+2RZ

The route we took back to Nottingham was ok, although it would be good to find a route that wasn't on main roads most of the way (we didn't put much time into planning). Its.. out to Wollaton, on the Trowell road which turns into Nottingham Road, under the M1, then and a right onto Cossal Road, then into Cossal where Church Lane links Cossal to Asworth Lane. From this direction its on the right just up the hill as you approach Asworth.

If you find a better route let us know!
