The 6th will be a day of non-stop Skill Sharing with a number of useful workshops to be held in various locations in and around the Sumac Centre.
The Sumac Skillshare is a series of workshops run for free by volunteers. Our aim is to build the confidence and skills of people in our community by sharing the skills we already have. It also aims to help prepare us for dealing with climate change and peak oil.
Some workshops have limited places and you need to book in advance. Currently sessions are aimed at adults. Children must be accompanied.
Workshops to be held at the Sumac Centre (245 Gladstone St, Nottingham, NG7 6HX):
Home energy efficiency: 10am-11.30am
Learn how to combat climate change at its source. Over 50% of CO2 released in this country comes from buildings, but we can easily reduce that figure by making simple and non intrusive changes to our homes. This workshop will give you ideas how.
DIY education: 10am-12 noon
If we are to change the world, we need to re-educate ourselves. Learn how to use popular education techniques to help people to connect their lives to larger social problems and start to effect change.
Bike maintenance: Limited numbers – please book. 10am-1pm
Cycling is a great way to cut down on vehicle use, and to keep fit and happy! Come to this workshop to learn how to do basic maintenance servicing and repair work yourself.
Vegan Pie Making: Limited numbers – please book. 2pm-5pm.

How to mend electric items in the home: both household appliances, and lights. Covers simple skills like how to wire a plug. Bring along broken things and learn how to mend them.
Clothing alteration: 11am-4pm. Please call to let us know you're coming.
Got holes in your favourite jeans or have a special dress that's a little too big? Learn how to alter and mend your clothes and make them more funky!
