This will be the first of a number of Crocus film showings on issues related to asylum, humanitarian, political and international issues. The initial plan is that these will run once a month, however if there is interest it could be more often. In the relaxed atmosphere of the Crocus there will be space to discuss any issues arising from the film. There will be a chance to talk about future titles which could be shown.
One motive of showing these films is to raise awareness of international humanitarian issues, but also to raise awareness of the work of organisations in Nottingham. Thursday's film has been provided by the Sankofa Foundation, which is a therapy centre for refugees and people seeking asylum. There will also be a chance to discuss the work being done in Nottingham to offer support to refugees and people seeking asylum.
