I am not involved with organising this meeting, but I thought somebody should put it on IndyMedia.
A very determined Royal Mail management, backed up by Gordon Brown, has decided to take on a lively, confident postal workforce, backed up by no-one but the likes of us.
Simultaneously, the PCS Civil Service Union are in the middle of their own dispute, and Gordon Brown is holding down all public sector pay increases to 2.5%. The situation is calling out for united action.
Mark Serwotka, General Secretary of the PCS is trying to organise united action. This meeting on Thursday (7pm, New Mechanics, 3 North Sherwood St.) is called by the Nottingham Town Committee of PCS, and the New College Nottingham Branch of the University and College Union (UCU). It will feature Mark Serwotka as the main speaker. Sasha Callaghan, President (Elect) of UCU will also speak, and there will be a striking postal worker.
It's time to get involved, I think.
